Remembering Saturday For Animal Wednesday

On Saturday DH and I drove to Point Reyes Station and met up with my friend Doreen (from HS) and her partner, Simone. The horse showed up unannounced.
I'm starting with human animals first, besides the ones above, as I loved this end of the day silhouette up on the Bodega Bay Headlands this past Saturday. People hiking, flying kites, just having fun. then there was a bumble bee on Simone's head at lunch
not to mention the hordes of yellow jackets that came to dine with us as well
Simone was such a good sport sitting still for just one more picture please!
This was the hugest crow we'd ever seen up high in this big old tree
And then the cormorants hanging out on the rocks in the ocean
It was another one of those very good days!
Happy Animal Wednesday to you and yours!

Friday's Art Making

On Friday last I got up early and started a whole day of making art. One blog friend, Corryna in The Netherlands, had asked if I'd make her an ATC using the mono painting technique I'd used recently on my large "!" piece. So I set about making mono printed fabric. Then I decided I wanted to stamp it too so I made these stamps using craft stick-ons and foam board I had from my stash of kids craft projects. These stick so well you can even wash the paint off later and they still stay in place! I love the black stamped ink on the red and green painted fabric. Gold circles sang loudly too.
This material is linen maybe? I found it in my stash.
I like how the texture of the fabric shows through the paint.
I turned lots of this into nine ATCs which I've sewn together, and am
in the process of adding embellishments to.
To be seen later.
Corryna will get first choice
and then they will be up for grabs.
I mean trade!
;-)
I saved out a few large pieces of this painted fabric for my next
artysoulsisters and girlfriends sketchbook pages.

Happy Cactus Monday And An Easy Fast to My Friends Who Fast today.

I'm not sure if I have blogged this wonderful blooming cactus from my cousin Judy's garden yet or not. But I felt it worthy of another showing if I had. She is my GREEN THUMBED COUSIN.
I will add more in the morning about this past weekend, which has been one of the fullest three days I have experienced in a long time. So much goodness. To my Jewish friends at home and abroad, I wish you all an easy fast; a good year on this day of Atonement. Yom Kippur! Right now I am full from the reverberations of chanting from the Kol Nidre services tonight at my synagogue and the good feelings that came from seeing old friends there. I am truly blessed.
I am posting this late at night; I will add to it in the morning. So come back later to learn more.Posted by Picasa

Busy Fun Weekend, ending on Sober Note of Prayer

Photos and art will follow soon, but just here to let you know that on Friday I arted from morn till night; on Saturday DH and I drove to the seaside and had a cool (weather) time; and on Sunday I attended both a drawing class and tonight Kol Nidre service at the synagogue for Yom Kippur. So posting with photos and art will have to wait, along with my "T" ABC ATCard. The idea is brewing and will hit paper &/or fabric when I can. Happy Weekend to all.
