I went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned earlier this week, and this woman sat across the waiting room from me. We'd both pulled are cars in quickly and at a slant. I told her the next person to come in between our two cars was going to have to slant their car too. We laughed at our matching hurried parking styles to get to our dental appointments on time. She wore rhinestone trimmed jeans! Threw an extra light sweater over her shoulder, clutched her large green purse on her lap, and made contact with the outer world on her techie device!
I drew her, and then went in and had my teeth cleaned. When I left her car was still there at a slant!
On Wednesday I went to Tacos Jalisco for lunch. I probably should tell the truth and say I went to Tacos Jalisco to draw. Lunch is very good, but it's definitely secondary to drawing.
I had my much larger new art journal, which is 9" X 12", lots of room to draw lots of people on one page. I got an even dozen on this page! I love the rainbow coalition of peeps in my town. We've got Hispanics, Asians, African Americans, and whites from all sorts of backgrounds, who knows where they and their ancestors came from?
It makes for a colorful drawing, yes?
And then I drew a lot more buildings around town for Ann Hyde's and My NEW BLOG:
Again I invite you to join us there and add your renditions of our towns. This month it's mine, here in Vacaville, CA. This venue will change month to month. We hope to cover the world! Just send an email to me or leave your email address in the comments here and I'll send you an invite to become an author there and you can post your drawings when ever the spirit moves you to do so. All the details of how, etc. are on that blog.
This week I drew the local Art Gallery, where I have entered 5 or 6 juried art shows, won ribbons, and had fun showing off my art.
I drew the Pure Grain Bakery cafe where I also go to eat and draw or draw and eat.
And I drew this cute towered house on Kentucky Street!
See more of what I drew this week and last at Somewhere to Sketch! And see what many other "authors/artists" are drawing there! We are definitely having fun and you can too, come see!
Yesterday, I posted a late Animal Wednesday post on my grand daughter, Allie's 2nd birthday! Scroll down one post (or click on this link) to see how cute she is and what fun she had on a recent vacation with a lot of animals.
I continue to remember my recently departed friend, Patricia Ann, Patty. I told you I'd tell more Patty stories. Patty was a clean freak. She actually LOVED to clean house, and her house shone as a result, always. She was an expert on every conceivable cleaning product for any reason or use. I owe my new wood and tile floors to Patty's influence. As well as the swifter she bought me. And I think of her each and every time I swift, or lift a hand to dust or make order. (It's not as often as she would have done, we are very different in that department) but I always think, Patty would be proud of me now.
Thinking of you too, Tracey Fletcher King, and hope you are healing well and quickly!
Happy Paint Party Friday! Enjoy the art of many wonderful artists there via the icon on my sidebar!
