My first drawing for Sketchbook Skool. Gouache over watercolor paints, white gel pen, bold black marker, copic black pen. Calligraphy pen.
Instructions involve drawing what we see, using pen only, which is already the way I work, but I didn't let that stop me going out and buying more pens, different types adding to my already substantial collection.
Drawing our shoes is a reoccurring theme. I loved drawing my Converse High Top shoes.
And making it pop with paint was even more fun!
Again, drawing in ink over pre-prepared water colored pages is a nice art journal effect for the new leaves on our fig tree:
And finally something you are used to seeing here me drawing at Tacos Jalisco in pen.
And coming back to add paint later!
I am enjoying the class. One more day in Danny Gregory's class. And then we move on to the second of six teachers. I'm excited to see what the next teacher has to offer in way of tools and techniques.
There are over 1000 people taking this class (six teachers, six weeks); and they are a chatty and sharing group. We have the classroom site for sharing and our own closed group Facebook page. It's fun seeing everyone else's art and receiving critiques, ideas, encouragement and inspiration.
I'm haring this with Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketchers! Don't forget to visit us at Paper, Paint, Pencils and Pens, and if you want to draw with us there leave me your email address and I'll send you an invite.
Thanks for visiting. I love and appreciate your comments. Have a creative week!
PS: I am adding word verification, as much as I hate it, due to excess anonymous comments that are spam. And not allowing anonymous comments any longer. Sorry if this leaves someone out of my blog, who has no other way into it, and has no ill intent.

This sounds like fun. What kind of white ink pen do you have. And yes, I think you needed all of those new pens. You will have a blast with them. :)

Thanks for the boost before bed! Did you really think the ink drawn Converse was your drawing? How funny! It's my colored one before I added the paint! Thanks for your kudos my friend! Much appreciated!
DeleteI simply love your sketches, also with paint!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Lovely work, my fave is the converse shoe! Valerie
ReplyDeleteA wealth of enjoyable art to look at to start the day, great sketches and luscious colours. Sounds a good course you are on - you are one busy lady. Your cafe sketch is a rich feast, so much to read and examine. Like you, I am never happy unless I am straight into a drawing with pen, it gives a much more immediate result.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, I love what you do with gouache. My daughter uses it a lot, but it is so dark. Yours is absolutely beautiful. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketches. xx
ReplyDeleteYour converse shoe illustration is my favorite one here !! Love how it has turned up :)

ReplyDeleteI want to snag your Converse and wear them out and about in the sunshine!
Ann drawing in ink was scary at first when I began three years ago. But now it is second nature to me. I pride myself in NOT erasing.

Sharing your sketches here and at skool gives me ideas and hopes of where to go after I get more experienced with pen drawings. I, too, am enjoying the instruction. I am thinking that starting simple will help to build skills and confidence....don't know if that's a fallacy. Practice, practice, practice :)
