It's fun having friends come to visit. We take time to clean house, and that doesn't happen so often so I appreciate the excuse! It's especially fun to have friends who like to draw, so Avivah and I drew each other!
The next day we went to Stockton to spend time with family for Thanksgiving. I drew everyone there! They seemed to like what I was doing. They also sat and poured over my art journals. I brought several from our recent trip to Europe and they enjoyed that story telling ...
I loved it when my cousin's ten year old daughter came up to me when we were getting ready to leave and said: "I really like your drawings!" That made my day!
It also made my day to sit next to my Uncle Harry who will turn 96 in January!
On Monday I was still enjoying my extra long weekend. We went to Starbucks for breakfast and drawing there. I so appreciate all the folks who sit still for me to draw them. I did the coloring there too.
Back home I drew my husband listening to a music instruction CD and following along with the instruction manual. I don't think he can read music. Maybe these are just cords!
After buying some art books at the thrift store I was inspired to draw this Selfie on the left.
And to draw on my shirt!
I also drew this Lenox Music Box, a gift from my childhood friend, Patty.
We were in the habit of exchanging gifts this time of year.
I'm grateful I have so many from her I can take out and enjoy to remind me of our long life and friendship together.
I actually had lunch at Tacos Jalisco twice this week. First on Wednesday, where we ran into Carlos and talked to him about his graduation from his Drama program in San Francisco. I just know he is off to do great things in the world of film.
And again on Thursday when I went alone with my sketchbook and new purple pen. (Pilot Varsity) and drew to my hearts content over my vegan veggie bowl with grilled vegetables, rice and beans, avocado and lettuce.
Remember "The Couple" from my book, One Fish Taco and Half an Order of Guacamole A Year of Drawing Over Lunch at Tacos Jalisco? They were there today!
If you still haven't seen my book check it out on my sidebar icon. It would make a nice gift for an artist friend, or yourself!
Also, you can check out Sketchbook Skool too. The first three semesters start up again in January. Those of us who have taken all three will be given the gift called Boot Kamp of six free weeks of further instruction and review! Have you noticed any improvement in my drawing since I started those classes, around last April I believe? I owe it all to the 14 teachers and 24 weeks of classes I've taken there! Come join the fun!
Wishing everyone a Happy Paint Party Friday!
And reminder to join us drawing at Paper, Paint, Pencils & Pens. Where we draw to a new theme every two weeks. All are welcome.
Thanks for stopping by. I so do appreciate your visits and your comments and reactions to my art!

Hi Lynn, Yes, beautiful, expressive work! How did you learn about Boot Kamp? I've taken all three semesters and haven't heard of it. Though I've had the semesters I am still working on parts of them. I'm hoping for some quiet days during the holidays and break from school for some catching up. Thank you for sharing your work and for the alert about extra instruction and review...I look forward to any of SBS inspiration, motivation and direction!! It's wonderful art, reflection and community!!
ReplyDeleteBoot Kamp was talked about in our Sketchbook Facebook page/group. If you have indeed taken the first three semesters you will receive word about it. Check your spam box just incase it landed there. I do believe it begins in January. As long as you registered for all three semesters you are good to go.
DeleteThank you, Lynn, just now an email came to me about it! What a generous idea......art filling the world!! Have happy days whatever you do during this season, whether celebrating or sharing with others or serving those who need something! Best wishes!
