I"m Backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

I know I've been away from my blog for about a month. Here are some Sktchy Folks I drew while not blogging ...







 
I also draw my husband at Barnes & Noble Café!


And other folks there too.


And I still draw several mornings a week at Starbucks.


I loaded these drawings a while ago, a month ago? But never posted them. Now I will. I've gotten busy in other areas of my life and blogging has definitely taken a back seat. For one I have decided to retire from my 36 year career as a counselor (ten years as a Biofeedback counselor/trainer and 26 years as a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist). It's been a wonderful time in my life and the decision to stop has been an emotional one, with lots of changing of my mind over the past two plus years.
But now I am sure and I will be saying good bye to a handful of clients (about a dozen) and emptying my office completely by September 1st. At age 76 I want to devote 100% of my time to making art and playing. It's time.
 
I'll continue to go to Starbucks to draw.
 

I've also made a return to quilting. I am on #5. My eldest grandson has traveled extensively and brought home fabrics from many different countries. He asked me if I could turn them into a quilt for him and that has become quite the project.
It's a large one so it is taking a slow paced but steady paced job.
I plan to continue working in fabric art again too.


I'll enjoy more time with my husband. He's the one on the right!


And I'll continue to meet new people whereever I go. I'm excited to see what new adventures open up for me as I step through this door to this new part of my life.

    Congratulations, young lady! My decision to retire from counseling 3 years ago was the most freeing experience in my life. You won't regret it (for long, anyway)...

    Congrats on retiring. Mine was unplanned 8 years ago by illness but wanted to continue because I enjoyed it. My wife of 38 years now makes sure my time is filled and you will fill your time with what you love to do. Best wishes and please keep posting.

    Oh Wow Lynn, that is quite some decision for you. I know you had been pondering on retiring right back when we saw you on your visit here. It's so good that you are sure about this now, it is the best time when ones mind is set like that. Now onto your new ventures of art and quilting and no doubt some travel mixed into it too ....lv Ann & Graham (and, of course, William-the-lurcher) :)

    Lynn, what a wonderful and important step into more time for yourself, your husband and your art. I wish you all the best and will always be watching what you are up to, even if I don't comment a lot. I can understand the the bittersweet feelings and sadness to leave your clients and such enlivening work.     I have been wondering where you were. Congratulations to you on your decision to retire. It isn't easy, I know. I have retired three times...but now at 76 I too feel the pull to have more time with my spouse and my self. Hope I make it this time. Maybe we will be seeing more of your life sketching???

      Susan, I still draw nearly daily and post on several Facebook groups! I'll continue my blog too. I'll also be volunteering my time different places. Looking forward to doing new things!     All wonderful. Love the Sketchy Folks and so envy your live sketches in Barnes & Noble, etc. Wish I had places to go and sit and sketch. You are going to enjoy retirement more than the average person.
