  7. Thanks for this! I love your drawing / painting style and how it has evolved since the beginning. I love how free you are, how you just keep going when someone gets up during a sketch, or when things don't line up just right. I wish I could let go and be as forgiving when I draw. I could have such fun! Maybe one day,...inspired by YOU!

  14. Gosh, Lynn, these are awesome! I especially love DH's hand where he is taking a nap--hands are so hard for me! And I think those pages where you've divided the page into six small blocks are all fascinating. Oh! And the Israeli soldier--love love love how you used a black pen that bled just a little, and used so much water--it's like the paint echoed the emotion behind the subject...

  23. I absolutely love your review. You have inspired me to keep a sketch journal. I'd love to know what type of pen you use. I like the thin line. Also I would like to know what media you use for your colors. I love this creative journey and people like you who introduce me to new experiments. I look forward to more creative sharing in the new year. I read your next posting and am so sorry for your loss. Longtime friends are irreplaceable. I am glad you did have such a rich friendship.

    1. Irene, thank you.
I use many different pens. They include Pitt and Farber in varying sizes from very fine XS or .01-08 which is thicker. I not long ago started using LAMY fountain pens in fine and medium nibs. I've also used ball point pens in a pinch. I like pens with waterproof ink. But it's also fun to add watercolor to Lamy ink and see how it runs. As it did on my Israeli soldier painting. I use Winsor and Newton watercolor pan paints, but I've also used very cheap student paint sets. Sometimes I use Tom Bow marker pens that mix well with water, and I've used Crayola crayons made for children. My art "journals" vary too. I like spiral bound ones as they open flat. I've used another style I got at Michaels that closes with a magnet and comes with a paint brush. I have filled many if them. I've used paper from 90-140 lb. I hope this information helps.
I did what you are doing, I looked to see what others were using and then just started using whatever I could find out there. I wrote about my first year of drawing in public in my book "One fish Taco and Half an Order of Guacomole A Year of Drawing Over Lunch at Tacos Jaliso." You can get a look at it from the link on my sidebar.

As a relatively new artist myself it warms my heart to hear I've inspired someone else to start sketching.
