Drawing Klassmates at Sketchbook Skool Summer Break

Klassmate Elsbeth McLeod
I used Faber-Castell PITT pen and  Derwent Inktense Colored Pencils that are water-soluble.
Color in pencil, add water with a paint brush and magic happens!

We are between semesters at Sketchbook Skool. We completed the first six weeks with six great inspiring teachers. The next semester starts July 4. In the meantime, the students desirous of continual daily drawing are meeting up in a closed Facebook Group and some of us are drawing each other.
Here are some of my Klassmates I have drawn this week so far. And one teacher.

Morgan Green
More PITT pen and Derwent Inktense colored pencils and water.
Morgan has joined the faculty at Sketchbook Skool and is our "Dean".
I look forward to what she will bring to the party.

 Klassmate Susanne Pintura
Again I used PITT Pen but this time I broke out my water soluble Prismacolor colored pencils.
I have way too many art supplies now. I am sure I have more than I will need for the rest of my life.
Teachers and students alike suggest tools and I feel I must have them all. Silly me.
Teacher Tommy Kane and his charming wife and Klassmate Yun Lee
Another new art supply I had to have was a set of Doc Martin PH watercolors. They come in liquid form in small 15 oz. bottles with rubber tip droppers for tops. You drop a couple of drops of  paint into a couple of drops of water and wha la you have vivid color to splash on a page! You can see my first experience with them here. Me experimenting!

HUGE COMPLIMENT RECEIVED FROM TOMMY KANE AND YUN LEE

They like this painting so much they asked if they could use it as their Christmas card this year!
Color me proud!!!!
Klassmate Tyanne Alling Agle
Still one more product I had to have, a set of twelve Schmincke half pans of watercolor paints.
Lovely colors. The back ground on this picture was done with left over Doc Martins from the previous drawing. The rest is Schmincke watercolors. And Faber-Castell PITT pen S.
These are all done from photos supplied by the students and staff. Very different from my drawing from life. Both have their merits I think. I'm getting better and finding some bit of actual resemblance to actual people in these. Some with exaggerated chins, etc. But fun none the less.

  3. Great sketches of your classmates!! It is interesting to see the different result you get with the different materials. I've had a set of Doc Martins for eons and have never used them. Now they have little bits of pigment that is like sediment...which maybe could be interesting. lol Someday I'll pull them out and give them a try.

  4. Wow, Lynn, you have been buzy and made so excellent fine portraits. I love the two first especially, there you have used the shading so colourfully. They all are really amazing. Schmiencke watercolours I have used too some times. Now I have van Gogh watercolours. You are learning so much, perhaps we all get some ideas through your paintings and school. I see that you have enjoyed this school very much. Happy you!

    1. Yes, I am enjoying it immensely, Sirkka. The next semester starts July 4, not that you need it. But it is great fun on line with folks from around the world. Thanks for your feedback here. I appreciate it so much.

  12. You are a braver lady than I when you said you would paint your classmates. . .OMGosh I love what you did. The creativity just flows from your fingers. They are spectacular characters because you see them that way and can put them down that way on paper. I am so GAARREEEN! Blessings, Janet PPF
