New Modality Color Crayons!

These young ladies were in the park last Saturday where we went for a Free Lunch the local police department was offering along with face painting and finger printing children. (how sad is that idea!)
But we got a kick out of sitting in the shade eating our barbecued hot dogs and drinking cold water, while I drew the people around us. I saw on Danny Gregory's blog that he had used some crayons in his art so thought I would give it a try. I bought a big box of 64 Crayola Crayons for $3 at the grocery store! I love brand new crayons. It definitely was a blast to the past..........way far to my childhood!
And it was fun. I love the variety of colors and the way watercolor won't mix with them but paints in the grooves (the white spaces between crayon strokes). The sky is all watercolor blue paint, but same color or blended color paint was added on top of some of the crayoned parts of my drawing. Try it it's fun!

This one of a guy loitering was done in all crayon, no paint... done quickly waiting for DH to come out of the 7-11 with his newspaper and our lottery ticket. (nope, we didn't win this time either). LOL

On Saturday we went to the farmers market again and this time, as I wasn't alone I took photos and brought them home to draw and paint from them later. This woman was busy shopping for fresh veggies. It's a mix of crayon work and watercolors.

Now you can see Shelley Dally who made my Frida necklace I purchased from her this week after ogling it the Saturday before. She was all decked out in a colorful Tye-dyed dress that I was excited to draw and paint. This is all watercolor and black ink pen. She is adjusting a lock on the piece for me. She has the prettiest smile.

This is the beautiful necklace Shelley made with fused glass embellishments. The back of the bottom heart charm says: "Serenity, Courage, Wisdom"

This is my art for Paint Party Friday. Tomorrow you can follow more of the artists participating there by following the icon on my sidebar.
