Wednesday at Jalisco's found this gentleman eating by himself and reading...
The guy in front must be a road worker as he was wearing a bright orange safety vest...
I like bringing them to life with some watercolor paint in the evenings when I get home from work.
The biker guy is on the phone, the road worker has a phone thing in his ear, the couple across from him have no particular distinguishing features, except maybe the young man's camouflage hat.
The following day I dined at the Pure Grain Bakery. These people were standing in line. Some moved through the line quicker than I could finish them so someone may have their own top and someone elses bottom! The lady who looks like she is at the counter was really a patron sitting at a table in the back...and the guy was also further away from the women in line. Oh well, I just do what I do and they all fall into line one way or another.
And here they are in living watercolor!

ReplyDeleteI really like your Jalisco drawings, I never get tired of them. They do change into something else when you add watercolor, and I like that as well. Every single person on your drawings has her/his own personality - the lady behind the counter looks like she doesn't really want to serve anybody, but then she wasn't the counter lady at all!! I love how you "throw" them all together, makes it very lively.

I love it that you show the before and after when you put the color on the sketches..They are like different drawings almost. I think the color brings out more story telling for some reason and add depth. I am not sure I would tell the couple you are drawing them. They might get self conscience from now on if they haven't figured it out yet. :)

ReplyDeleteI love that you keep busy even at lunch!....yes, do give a copy to 'the couple' Debbie and Mike, I'm sure they will be really surprised that you are sitting there drawing...wonder what they think you're doing, perhaps they feel you are so busy that even lunchtime is taken up with work!

ReplyDeletethese are so fun!!!!!!!!! I love the ink!! I used to totally do this but with charcoal.. love the ink though. but people always caught on to me and at times moved away :( I wonder how long it takes you to do each one? I also found that people moved faster than I would like them to....

ReplyDeleteLove this. I thought about doing this in church on Sunday....my hands have a hard time keeping still. I didn't do it though, in case it was found out that my mind was wandering!
