Baby Burrowing Owls on Animal Wednesday

The eyes have it!

Collage:
Top left see their habitat. The hole to their tunnel under the ground.
Lots of new baby owls this season.
We love visiting them and we think they enjoy us too as they stay out and pose for us!
I especially like how the guy on the lower right photo is leaning into the picture!
Happy Animal Wednesday!

  2. Great photos Lynn. One of my favorite owls. It is great that you get so close to them. The eyes certainly do tell the tale. Fearless feathered creatures. Happy AW.

  4. How adorable. I love that first pix. Do they dig the holes they burrow in? I wonder how they can do that. Amazing creatures. HAW

  5. I found this on line: "Burrowing Owls are considered monogamous and usually nest in rodent burrows or artificial holes in the ground. They particularly like Prairie Dog holes but will nest in squirrel holes, skunk holes, Kangaroo rat holes, and also in the burrows of armadillos and tortoises. If nothing is available, Burrowing Owls are capable of digging their own holes. They will tidy an unused burrow by kicking the dirt out backwards."
