Carlos at the Cash Register
This was a very good day at Jalisco's. I sat at a small for one table near the wall facing the back of the restaurant. They were semi busy. I enjoyed drawing the details of this scene. Carlos at the cash register seemed to be surrounded by young women almost like fans surrounding a star actor! (which he happens to be BTW!) His dad is busy in back making burritos and Charlie in blue is checking the next orders to be prepared in the kitchen.
The Couple came in, but I did not see them arrive. I did see them later out of the corner of my eye looking to my right. When they were done they passed by my table and the guy touched my shoulder which was his way of getting my attention and when I looked up he smiled and said bye. She also smiled and said bye. They are my "Jalisco" friends. People I have drawn and will undoubtedly draw again sometime.
The girl in green at the counter was not wearing high heels. But when I drew her feet they flew there.
What can I say?
Happy Sunday! I am linking this to Sunday Sketchers which you can get to via the icon on my sidebar to see what all the other artists have been up to!
I am also doing the 29 Faces in September challenge and I have posted my first eight faces in the post just below this one. There is a link to that challenge via my sidebar too.

Thank goodness for Jaliscos and Carlos. They keep you busy. Are you doing any sewing any more?

I know just what I can say, wow, I love this!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat drawing Lynn! Love how you always capture the moment by hand!
ReplyDeleteI love the vibrancy and life captured in all your sketches with recurring "characters" and all! These definitely need to be collected into a book!
ReplyDeleteI also love reading your comments written directly on them. The one about Picasso on the face had me giggling. I've had that same thought about several of the faces I've attempted.
Have a great week!
Wonderful life sketch ~ Awesome ~ (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDeleteThis is an absolutely wonderful sketch/watercolour. LOVE it. Oh, and I eat too many chips, too!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's so cool that you keep seeing that same couple everywhere, AND that they know you sketch them and don't mind. I'm glad Carlos was the start today, though, because I love seeing all the little details on the wall behind the counter and through the window into the kitchen. Love stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations are always so much fun to look at, Lynn. Blessings!
ReplyDeletebeautiful sketch today, it looks like a nice store!
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking that you add the words around the frame. Great as ever!
ReplyDeleteEven before I read the text I thought about the huge amount of details you got into this scene. Great observation power!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed by the details in this sketch! I feel overwhelmed trying to sketch a scene like that. Well done to you!
ReplyDeletelove the heels!
ReplyDeletelaughing as always - I need to follow you around someday!

I like your sketch! great colors and wonderful details! I like that you called the counter guy a rock star, LOL! we used to have a 'rock star' at our local pizza place when I was a teenager:) Great for business LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the details in this drawing, especially the Guadalupe that's hanging on the wall. I'm growing fond of taco jalisco!
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I draw from a live model at times and from photos. Every now and then, I'll draw from memory.
I love that you have your friends in your sketching world... that is cool... this one is one of my favourites actually...xx
ReplyDeleteI like the written border around this one - like the story about the pictures around the pictures:-)
ReplyDeleteI love this sweet picture and I love the colors and the style. The scenery is so warmhearted.
