Our second day of fossil hunting this time for prehistoric 70 million year old fish...
DH was hard at work in the rock pile...they take limestone rock off the huge wall behind him which was the ocean floor at one time...and he uses these two tools to split the rock hoping to find the fossils of the fish inside.
Here is a fragment of a fish.
And here are more that he found and loaded in the car to take home.
Here he carefully chips away some rock around the fish to reveal more being careful not to ruin his catch!

Back in Kemmerer we are greeted by our favorite couple there who we have met in years pasts earlier visits.
Back on the road again...this the road down from the fossil quarry. And then we were on our way to Douglas, Guernsey and then Colorado to my cousins beautiful home where we spent three days together playing cards (spite and malice); eating delicious food and visiting the Denver Art Museum. More of that later.

  1. This looks like a lot of fun to me. I have often wondered what it would be like to do this. Fun finds. You were way out in the country weren't you? Beautiful country.
