How I got confused at the airport and went through two different security checks in two different terminals before flying off to Portland, Oregon to be with my kids last week!
My beautiful daughter-in-law, who is turning out to be a wonderful friend, had a birthday right before we arrived and I made her this "card" in celebration. I gave her some art supplies, as she is an artist too!
My son did an amazing thing. He turned 49 while we were there! How can that be? It seems like just yesterday he was just a little boy! I drew this from a photo of him that was hanging on the wall in their home. When he was about the age his little daughter, Allie, is now!
We were there five days! I got lots of "Allie Bel" time in, so many cuddles, kisses, signing conversations, coloring together, playing with dolls, going to the park. I didn't draw Allie, but there's a cute photo of her in my previous post.
Jackie told me Allie cried all the way home when I got out of the car at the airport to fly home... I cried too.
It's such a quick and easy flight. An hour and a half. The view from the plane is beautiful flying over snow covered mountains (Hood and Shasta); the green fields below the clouds look like a big old quilt!
I drew the people picking up their baggage while I sat waiting for my shuttle bus to take me home.
Back home, back to work, and back to lunch at Tacos Jalisco. Good to see Carlos, good to eat a Veggie Burrito Bowl.
I colored this with water soluable wax pastels
Another BEST LUNCH found at a new spot for me, Joe's Creekside Cafe. I looked at the menu, but there was nothing strictly Vegan on it. So I asked for some substitutes on their Spinach Feta salad.
I asked them to leave off the cheese, and give me avocado and cucumbers instead. WA-La! A Vegan salad with FRESH STRAWBERRIES, Roasted PECANS, Fresh SPINACH, half an AVOCADO sliced on top, an ORANGE SLICE, and got oil and balsamic vinegar instead of the raspberry dressing, which I was sure was loaded with sugar. I used the oil sparingly.
It was beautiful to look at and delicious to eat!
Oops! I spilled a little balsamic vinegar on my paper. Oh well. These two gals were NOT sitting together. But I started to draw the one in orange when she and her friend got up and left; so I drew the gal sitting alone next to me, as if she were the other's eating companion! It worked for me. Those are wires and tiny lights strung around the big tree. Yes, we were eating outside on a warm sunny day.
It's nice to be home, but I am looking forward to my next trip to Oregon, a Seth Apter art class, and more kid and baby time!!!!
Linking up with Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketchers!
Happy Drawing, Happy Week!
