Color me happy when I learned that this painting done at Tacos Jalisco a year ago sold at the Vacaville Art Gallery Members Show January 2014. It was framed in black. They told me that the woman who bought it liked Avant guard art. I guess that means my art is "different". I'm glad she liked it. And "The Pink Haired Girl" has a new home.
On Thursday night this week my husband and I went to Winters to Root Stock where we listened to musicians preform at Open Mike Night! The musicians were fully illuminated, but I was sitting in the dark. I could barely see the pen marks on my paper, but I persevered and drew on ...
and on ... This gave new meaning to the Blind Drawing Technique ...
and on ...
... and on ....
and on ...
and on....
... and on ...
...and on ...
...and on...
... and on ...
Each of these performers sang 1-3 songs. I drew these in black ink pen quickly, in the dark.I did not draw the one group we went to see, a former colleague of my husbands from his teaching years; I was too engrossed in listening to them. They were last up. They were very, very, very good.
The following evening we went to hear his friend sing and play with a different group at an Irish pub in Davis. They preformed Irish music, very enjoyable. But that is more art and a totally different story which I will save for another post.
Thanks for visiting me and for leaving your comments that mean so much to me.

ReplyDeleteYou did all these in the dark? wow.. look at all the shading in them. No wonder a certain someone was so interested in your work. :) Amazing. and congrats again on the sale of the painting. :) You are Artist hear you roar. :))

Congratulations on the sale!!!! You have a definite style so I can see your paintings selling because they are very original. Wow...you got a lot of sketches done. It is hard to sketch in a restaurant/bar/lounge because they illuminate the performers not the tables. lol I always end up putting on my glasses so I can see a little better. lol I've thought about bringing a book light to shed some light on my paper but I don't want to distract the performers. I don't do this kind of sketching very often but it is fun to challenge yourself and do it. Bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sale of your painting Lynn. Pleased you had a good night, looks like the sketching was good to.
