Chop Suey At Taco Jalisco's
On Tuesday last I took drawing pad and lunch money to Taco Jalisco's...Where tattoo man was having lunch with big hat guy...
Me Amiga, Cecilia was taking the order from...
...'The Couple', who got there first...
I ordered my usual (half order of guacamole and one fish taco)...
...with chips!
and while I ate I drew and while I drew 'The couple' the tattooed man and the big hat guy came and sat at the table in front of mine totally obscuring my view of 'The Couple'.
And so, as I had drawn 'The Couple' in the almost center of my page, I went on to add the others piece by piece around them. I think it all sort of balances out in the end. Lunch was good!
I post this for the challengers of Paint Party Friday, which you can follow via the icon on my side bar. Thanks for dropping by today and thanks for your comments, they mean a lot to me!

Your drawing turned out well Lynn, even if customers did conspire to stop your view! Your lunch sounded yummy, by the way.
ReplyDeleteA complete short story in one page..wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour meal looked and sounded yummy
Take care
Jude
Hey Lynnieskynnie, love sketch, the fact that you had to imkprovise AROUND them gives the sketch even more life, love it! Take care and have a wonderful day,
ReplyDeleteAndrea
oups, sorry for the spellling errors, I meant lovely sketch and "improvise" :) greetings from sunny and warm Paris, Andrea
ReplyDeleteI like how you incorporated everyone and everything into your sketch.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun how each individual portrait/close-up works so well on its own and then you surprise us by revealing how they're all part of one scene on the same page. I also like the suggestions of colour over the drawn lines with lots of the white bg still showing through.
ReplyDeleteI love it when you share lunch with us. It fels like we are there too with all the people you paint.
ReplyDeleteIs it already Friday there? I love these, particularly the last one, It's just cool! HPPF Lynnie, and I know you are going to be thrilled for me when you read my post.
ReplyDeleteThese are great Lynn. You just keep getting better and better. Love the close ups now.
ReplyDeletecharming
ReplyDeleteAnother fun lunch! I like the guy in the straw hat best - maybe because I really like straw hats:-)
ReplyDeleteThat's the way to make "lemonade", those two guys helped you make a fun and interestingly designed page by sitting down where they did. I love the layout!
ReplyDeleteI so admire the sense of ease and freshness in your art!
ReplyDeleteA joy to see and I get a story too!!
what a fun composite of an entire experience! I love how you chose to frame them the way they fell on the page - as always, a treat to see life unfold in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteGreat sketching! You really captured some personality in the different charactersin the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteLove all the different sketches on the same piece. And I love hearing the stories behind them. :)
ReplyDeleteVery surrealistic and colorful cartoon, I always feel like having tacos after I visit your blog lol

This is a great sketch, it's so lively I can practically hear the plates clattering on the tables and all the chatter.

I love how you capture everyday life with your pen and then fill it in with the colors!
ReplyDeleteAs always a wonderful series of watercolors, now I stay with Cecilia.
ReplyDeleteyou've captured some lovely moments here!
ReplyDeleteIt's truly amazing, Lynn, how you can draw on site people at ordinary activities. And while you are eating!!! The guacamole sounds super, but I don't know about fish taco. I love fish but not in a taco shell.
ReplyDeleteThe fish tacos are on soft corn tortillas. Not in a hard shell. ;-)
DeleteVery clever! Never say never - just go with it! Your sketch turned out very well - I like it!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you brought it all together. I could eat guacamole everyday. Never had a fish taco but I have heard they are good. I will just have to get brave and try one. It looks like you have some really nice places to eat. Happy weekend, Mary
ReplyDeleteI loved the way you paced your comments to the pictures - it reminded me of an old radio show drama! What fun! You've really come to know the regulars - I wonder what they call you? The "sketch lady" perhaps or maybe they call you "fish taco". Halibut tacos are one of my favorites at a deli near my work. YUM! Your drawings get better and better each time you do one.
ReplyDeleteWhat an enjoyable treat to eat and draw! I love the overall sketch and colors. Wonderful work indeed!
ReplyDeleteThese are great, so charming, your art and description always draws me in and puts a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteGood Grief, you balanced them so perfectly, they are all together in a small space and not squished. How in the world did you do that. . . good eye. I always always enjoy seeing where you go and who you see. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteI really like your sketchbook diary. Looks easy to do but I know it's not! Patsy
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. It was fun to see how you worked out the problem you encountered when your view was blocked. The drawing was perfect. If I owned Jaliscos, I would definitely want this on my wall.
