"My Neighborhood Park and My Personal Garden Spaces" Lynn Cohen

This week at Paper, Paint, Pencils & Pens we are drawing to the theme "Gardens & Parks". So I have had my first taste of Plein Air drawing and painting this spring in our neighborhood park/playground.
On the weekend I drew at the park sitting on my three legged stool under big redwood trees in the shade. The challenge to myself with this huge play structure.

The next day I returned and sat on the opposite side of the same play structure and got that view into my sketchbook.
I love the twisty slide!

Then back at home I drew and painted outside again in front of our home. I love this big bush covered with pink flowers that is in full bloom right now. We have lots and lots of lavender in bloom too and yellow lilies. I am showing just a hint of this area that is profuse with color right now.

In our back yard we have two chairs under our own redwood trees (3) where we sit to relax and chat.

On another day I returned to the park again. This time (It was on Monday) it was full of young mothers and their toddlers. What fun to catch them at play.

And then again in my own back yard I have this iron rack that had been my moms. It's filled with gifts from friends. Bird house from friend Jeri in Idaho, birdhouse made by friend Sam in Oregon; a cutting from Aunt Mimi's huge jade plant. Second shelf are some things I purchased at flea markets or stores just because they spoke to me; and finally another birdhouse made by and from Cris and Con in Oregon. Some of you know them. ;-)

I draw in ink, no erasure, and then add watercolor in my Nature Sketch art journals.
Primacolor pens, Winsor and Newton and Koi watercolors

I'll link this to Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketchers. You can go to both those blogs via my side bar icons.

Thanks so much for coming by and leaving your comments. I appreciate them so very much!
Have a creative week!
