My Life Last Week! Saying Goodbye to July and my doctor!

Since my husband retired in June we have needed to prepare for new health insurance, as we'll no longer have the company he got through his place of employment. Instead we'll be moving on to a new company. So in preparation and before we lost the old coverage I made an appointment for some blood work and a last visit to the doctor I have been seeing for over ten years. I will miss her. She is not a part of the new plan. I drew the people in the waiting room while I waited my turn. I am happy to report that all my lab work came out just fine. Good levels all. She did tell me that the thing (cyst) she removed from the middle of my back in 2010 has returned and I need to take care of that "get it out of there" she said, when I transfer to the new doctor, as there was not time to do it with her unfortunately. So it's on the top of my "to do" list.

After the blood draw I had a coffee and bagel with cream cheese  at the Pure Grain Bakery to renew my energy after fasting for the tests. These were folks I saw there to draw. The little girl was so cute in her denim over-all shorts. And her dad had quite the message on the back of his shirt!

Obviously these are out of order. This was done at Taco Jalisco's the day before at lunch time. And no one is sitting with who they came in with. I hope I don't  get anyone in trouble. The gal at the counter was with a gal friend, and the guy was with another bearded guy. But she and her friend left after I drew her, so I just put the guy in next to her when he sat in her friends vacant seat.

Also the police woman was at the furthest table away from me and the woman across from her was directly in front of me. Only senor J is where he normally is back in the kitchen preparing food.
They have new table cloths on the tables that are very colorful and printed in a fruit design.

It's been a great month this July for drawing and painting!
I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.

  1. I really admire you for drawing in public! I always feel so self conscious. I think the image of little girl and her dad is just charming. I hope your new insurance treats you really well and everything gets taken care of properly.

    1. I felt that way in the beginning Lisa, but the more I do it the easier it becomes like anything else in life. Once in the zone I don't notice anyone noticing me. ;-)

  2. Don't you just hate the thought of finding a new dr? It is as bad or worse than finding a new hairdresser. Ha... Love your drawings.

  5. I cant believe its the end of July. Time Marches on and you capture bits and pieces of it in your drawings and make time stop for a little while anyway. I love how you fit your story in little bits of area in your drawings like it belongs there. Yep getting better and better with each drawing.

  6. Good to know your blood works were okay...I dislike anything done like that, don't we all. Sounds confusing about the insurance and changing to a different doctor though, but then it's different here...national health and all that!

  7. Where have I been????? I seem to have missed so many of your posts. So with that said, I went back and really enjoyed every post. I love the picture with their hands together...special. Now to talk about your drawings, they are wonderful, so much fun to look at.
A new doctor is hard to think about. We have been going to our Randy (Dr. Hutchings) for about 25 years. He was a young doctor when we started going to him. He had little kids, and he watched us grow old-er. He delivered my first grandchild. I would be lost without him. Summer has been filled with some real ups and downs for us. But we do indure....and have found an excitement in doing the remodel of our upstairs. But like all things, it takes time. I am busy looking at colors and thinking about carpet. Getting rid of our old stuff and getting some new. August brings it's own story and I will treasure each day of the summer of 2012. Big Hugs, come bye and see me. Your, Mary

  11. Oh boy this is why you guys need a universal health plan like we have in Canada! Then you can keep your doctor until they retire or get sick of them!! So sad!! Hope you get the same kind of care with the new insurance plan!! These are wonderful illustrations, I do love the one with the little girl and her dad! How you fit the message on his shirt amazes me!!

  12. I really dislike the health insurance system here in the States. Finding a new doctor because your "old" one is not in the new plan really sucks. I hope you will be able to find a good one who takes good care of you.
