Big Draw #7, Hawaiian Place Mat #2
Yesterday I picked up my copy of New Zealand Quilter magazine and found this beautiful butterfly quilted by Sandra Ryder called "New Life". I used a Precise V5 Extra Fine point pen to draw it first and then my watercolor pencils to color it. This is the back side (or one side of reversible) Hawaiian Shirt fabric place mat #2. On this side you can see the collars used to make this mat with the button ends on the bottom and bound on three sides with fabric from the back of shirt, same as used for back side. I free motion top stitched this side outlining the figures on the fabrics to quilt it. The middle is a poly/cotton blend batting which makes them nice and thick and soft. One more to go with collars and then I will make a few more with the fabrics to give her enough to use with company.
