More Hints of NYP as I come very close to finishing

I spent a good part of this weekend working on my NYP art quilt. It's just about done. The theme is a garden and here are some flowers in the garden made of silk fabrics from India... leaves and vines wind their way up and around the central part separating it from the border pieces.
the silver squares with orange glass centers were good finds at the thrift store in Berkeley. I did lots of hand embroidery while standing up quilting the top; and while couching the green vines.
This large butterfly turned out to be too big for the front so is on the back. It represents the young girls metamorphosis from childhood to young womanhood.
This piece, also on the back, is her baby kimono she wore as an infant, with an added purple silk insert...to be used as a container/pouch to hold notes of sentiment from friends and family members.
It won't be long now till this art piece, which started with emails with the customer in November 2009...and daily creating, sewing by machine and hand, embellishing for the past three months, will be shipped to its new home in New York!
