decorating = creativity = Target

I hope I am not boring you all to tears, but our house is absorbing all of our time and energy of late; and as a result all my creative energies are being funneled into same. This morning was devoted to clearing more things out of the garage. Sweeping, dumping and another drive with my car filled to over flowing to the thrift store with more donations. Things I finally let go of included a little kids rocking chair in pieces that DH never found time to fix for the grand kids; an old chair my mom had made a needlepoint seat for that was so thick in cat fur and repairs also waiting to be made; my late father's old big button adding machine (looked it up on eBay and might have gotten $100 for ....but doubt it as the bids weren't going that high); more books, two spray guns, oh, and a box of upholstery samples good for art making, but taking up too much room. Oh boy are we ever purging. I went to Target to get some organizational tools: fabric baskets for the guest bath; a fancy soap dispenser for the kitchen counter top instead of the bottle the soap comes in...very fung swei; a small tasteful basket for DH to drop keys, wallet, loose change into on coffee table... OH WE ARE GOING TO BE SO NEAT AND ORDERLY AROUND HERE... for at least a week! LOL The floor guys come in the morning. I hope we are ready for them and they for us! I have no idea when I will be back to creating with fabric and needles (by hand or machine); paint brush and pen. Ideas are swimming around in my head...and noted on napkins and backs of envelopes from time to time between runs to the dump! Soon I hope, soon. I hope you are enjoying your weekend where you are. The outdoor thermometer reads 110 degrees F. right now! I think I'll stay inside and soak up some A/C and new ceiling fan breeze! ;-) HAPPY SUNDAY!!!

  2. Heat was that high here today, too. People thought I was crazy when I told them. Wish I had those upholstery samples. Could have used them in my books. One man's junk and all . . .

  4. me too, Julie! Clearing out is essential for mental stability! we purge about twice a year to keep the "stuff" under control. I just finished a huge purge last week (it took a month) and it is a huge relief. enjoy your peace of mind Lynn. and by the way TARGET ROCKS!!

  5. Its going to look gorgeous in there. Good to get rid of things that you will never use or fix. You are donating things to a place that will benefit and to those that buy that will benefit. So it's a win win situation. And you ARE creating its just in a different form.
