"It's cool to be nice to everyone!"
"being mean does not make you cool(er)"
"Choose to be cool"
"Spread love around"
This is my anti-bullying art piece for the next show I am going to enter. I have not settled on a hanger for it yet...just used what was handy to see it on the wall. The message is clear...good for anyone, but especially for teens and young kids don't you agree?
It could also be called "Plant A Seed. Teach Acceptance. Save a Life!"
It's free motion sewing for the words and trim on off white canvas fabric with red thread; a little acrylic bright pink paint brushed on; trimmed in up-cycled lace...you see I do use what I find at garage sales and thrift stores including the strings of beads that string one heart to the other through the white grommets.
The backs have XOXO free motion sewn on them in red and more pink paint.
What I did on my day off (Friday)!
Enjoy your weekend.
(from garage sales or thrift store: grommets, lace, beads, canvas fabric)
I didn't think this was yours when I first saw it, different than your usual colors and approach - but I like it very much and yes, it would be great for a young kid. Perhaps hang it off a fixed up branch, or something like that. like a mini quilt hanger.
ReplyDeleteAnyway - I think your young GD would love this - don't you?
Very nice and a great message. There is far too much bullying going on these days. I am sure you will find the perfect hanger.
ReplyDeletewonderful. good for anyone to remember to be kind. esp those bullies.
ReplyDeleteHeart you sister! Love these little messages. I agree, a good reminder for everyone. Happy Weekend!

ps: love your wired to quilt piece, you've been busy. :)
ReplyDeleteYou continually surprise us with new interesting & fun things you create. Love the message. Would be cute for a Girls room. I wonder.. do girls or boys bully & get bullied more..?
ReplyDeleteThanks all, thanks Mim for suggestion for hanger. Had thought the same re: branch. Also might paint a dowel.
ReplyDeleteAnd use wire as hanger.
Cris, a client recently told me about her four year old grand daughter being bullied in her pre school by another four year old little girl. Real bullying!!! I think both genders are guilty of this unfortunately.
PS and DH says it's rampant in his Middle School where he teaches by both genders!
ReplyDeleteGreat and timely message!! We live in scary times.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the piece, I thought how positive it would be for teens. I see we had the same thought. We need more of this in this world.
ReplyDeleteThe message is so beautiful the hearts cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is a message many people could use. With the news showing so much bullying this piece is needed. A subtle but affective way to get a point across.
ReplyDeleteVery cool indeed ! I love the message of love as the answer to stop hate ! Great job, Lynn !
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful...the message foremost, and your beautiful artistic touch!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect piece to convey such an important message Lynn. I love it.
