WHITE Stuff: But No Snow Here

My friends from across the states and across the oceans write and post about the snow they are living in, shoveling, enjoying (some), dealing with. We have no snow here...but rain in abundance these past several days and more to come. But thought I'd look for white stuff in my store of photos to share with captured throughout this past year and maybe even years past.
I am still in lazy vacation days at home...this is so different from winters past when DH would be done with school and we'd hop in the car and drive cross country to SNOW in MN to his family there. DH says he misses the snow. I can honestly say I do not.
Instead we are at home...and I keep reading books...and I actually did a tiny bit of sewing today on a page for an Artshine book (Cat's); but mostly sat curled up in the green leather recliner with a book on my lap, sometimes the cat, soaking in words, a story, that has me mesmerised. I wonder how long I can keep this up?
I am grateful here on Grateful Thursday for this peace and quiet time. I may take a rest from posting for several days ahead...and catch you up sometime next week on me and mine; and looking forward to hearing about you and yours.
In the meantime, I know many of you are getting your homes in festive mode and are ready to gather in or venture out to be with friends and folks to celebrate the holidays and new year!
I send you all my very best wishes for a fun and festive time.

  1. I'm wondering what the book is that has you so captivated?

  2. What a refreshing look at white. Here of course there is nothing but snow for white. Right now we are void of any white, that can be a good thing except then the landscape is a dreary gray and a bit of brown. I get in a book reading mode from time to time. My DB always tells me that I will run out of a good book too fast then what. Ha..I usually come out of the reading frenzy refreshed. I hope you and your DH have a great vacation and you celebrate the coming year in style.

  3. clever white themed photos. do rest. sounds wonderful. we'll catch you when you return. I love it when a book engrosses me so much that the world and all its cares and joys falls away. Blessings, Suki

  4. Lynn, love the "white" you found!

Being "captured" by a book is such a's like travel - for free!

Happy Holidays to you, Henry V and all your family! May 2011 bring you health, joy - and for us - a meeting!

  5. What a lovely white montage! Keep on reading!!

  6. Dear Fearless, the book that has me captivated at the moment is HOUSE RULES by Jodi Picoult. It's main character has Asperger's Syndrome. And it's a murder mystery.Very good read. I've liked all the books of her's I've read so far (about four or five now).
The other book I finished first was The BOOK THIEF and I wrote about it a few posts ago. EXCELLENT.

  7. Merry Christmas. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a very happy New Year. Thank you for all your lovely thoughtful comments :o)

  8. Lovely pictures all of them and even more lovely together. Enjoy your weekend away. I am taking a blog break too.

  9. Sounds like a blissful way to spend the holidays! Enjoy your quiet time and reading! I've been catching up on your blog...I will definately get the "book thief" for later when the kids go back to school. Sounds like a good and thoughtful read.

  10. Love that peaceful burst of white, beautiful pics! Wishing you and yours healthy and happy Lynn. I'm glad you're my friend. :)
    Hugs to you,

  11. Your white looks inviting, of course I would love the sheep but the flowers re just lovely....

  12. We're on the other side of the globe, or should I say down under, and we've had rain most days for weeks when we would usually be having lots of sunshine. Our ten year drought is well and truly over. I've never thought of using photos of 'white' to create a white Christmas, it's much warmer than the real stuff. Enjoy your books and your holidays.

  13. Just wanted to drop by and wish you some very Happy Holidays, Lynn. I've been so busy making everyone else's holidays merry that I've barely had time to blink. One more week to go and I can sit back, heave a big sigh, and gather myself together.
    Love your little hat!

  14. God Bless YOU, Lynn!!! Enjoy your is such a blessing!

  15. I sent you and your family my best wishes too.
We have plenty of snow over here, in fact a bit too much.

  16. So many books, so damn little time!! I love hearing how you're in relaxation/vacay mode. So good for the soul and spirit.

It's been wonderful seeing what you've done this past year! I can't wait until my Great Niece opens her little purse from you and sees her book store gift certidicate enclosed. That will for sure make her want to think of "important things" this 8 year old must carry in her little pin-on-purse!

happy winter reading and cuddling and cozying Lynn!

  17. Merry Christmas Lynn!
    Indeed white is beautiful!

By the way, have you received my Christmas mail yet?
Just want to know it arrived at your home or not?

Thanks for leaving your comments as I love hearing from you. Your words of encouragement are why I continue to draw!
