Sad Sad News

Yesterday we learned that our son and daughter-in-law, who are pregnant, lost one of their twins. The other baby, "the healthy one" they said is "strong." We pray it continues to grow and thrive.
But we are so sad and disappointed over the loss of the one. I know and knew the stats were not good, given that this is an invetro pregnancy and my DIL's age are factors that gave odds of 70% demise early in the first trimester. But knowing that doesn't take away the hope and desire and excitement. I'm not sure if this loss comes under the heading of Vanishing Twin Syndrome, but it sure sounds like it. You can read about it on that link.
Thank you for letting me share this with you.

  9. Sorry to hear the news Lynn. Thankful that the other twin is strong. I didn't know the name Vanishing Twin Syndrome, but I have heard that sometimes when one twin is very strong and the other is weak, the weak one can be absorbed by the stronger one. I'm not sure how. All the best to your DIL and the baby as they continue to grow.
