Inspired by Jane Yuen Corich Necklace Purchase!

Last weekend at the Lawler House Art Gallery Trunk Show I purchased this beautiful handmade necklace by Jane Yuen Corich. I posted more about her in an earlier post. I am sorry the true colors are not captured by my camera, but I will tell you that everywhere I wear this necklace it gets rave responses. It is so pretty. Jane made these yo-yos from silk tie fabrics and beaded them beautifully in their centers.
Which inspired me to try making my very first yo-yos ever and put them on my latest art quilt that cannot be fully revealed until the end of this month!
But I feel that they add a bit of bright sparkle that really adds to my previous work.
Today begins my weekend.
I am devastated to wake to the news of this horrible tragic earthquake in Japan. I pray for the people there.
In contrast my personal ordeal of having to gather income tax information pales in comparison. I also hope to have time to be creative at home.
Something like this makes me feel so grateful for what I have and take so forgranted,
but reminds me that nothing is to be taken forgranted, as this could happen here in California
at any time.
So enjoy today!

Hope you avoid any ripple effect from the tsunami. Indeed, that is something horrible to see.

  4. THAT IS A gorgeous necklace!!! So is your quilt! Can't wait to see it all finished. I was hoping no other effects would hit California this morning. I heard everything was OK in Hawaii...I sure pray so....and I am certainly praying for all in Japan...very sad.

You've done a good job on your own yo-yos too. They bring back a lot of childhood memories!

I can't wrap my head around the Japan tragedy. It's mind boggling horrific.
