As you know by now if you follow my Jalisco's drawings I always have the same dish,
no wonder it's become so easy to draw!
One fish taco, and half an order of guacamole.
I love the chips there too, dark and crisp!
When I got there at noon on Tuesday this was the only other couple in the place. They were finishing up their lunch...I was happy that the front door was wide open and I could see the sign outside on the wall. I had not ever drawn that before. After they left and the waitress cleaned the table this guy came in by himself and sat there. He ordered a super burrito. He was a big guy himself and I had fun drawing his hand grip on his food.
And later his cell phone!
This young lady was one of three who came in to order and sat at the table next to mine on my left waiting for their take out food to be ready. I am guessing they attend the local high school that is only a few blocks away. She had on a very pretty light weight loose knit sweater but I did not have time to sketch the design.
She had a very long swan like neck. And carried her hand bag over her shoulder.
It is so nice that you continue your Jalisco drawings, it gives us a chance to share your part of the world, plus I get the feeling you are much more confident now drawing in public. Keep it up Lynn, I for one enjoy seeing your work.
ReplyDeleteAnn thanks...and yes my confidence grows daily with this practice. Still not 100% but much better than when I first started doing it. I sure appreciate your comments here. Thanks so much.
DeleteYour lunch looks healthy. It is nice that there is always people to sketch.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is Lisa. Yesterday I was so busy drawing that I left half the chips. I know that was healthier! ;-) And yes, there is always someone to draw there...even if it were just the wait staff. (but they move around so quickly it's hard to capture them).
Deleteso fun to think of you out there in town drawing away. plus getting a good lunch in the bargain.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun Suki!!! It's so second nature to me now. And to think of when I was terrified at the mere idea of drawing in public.
DeleteYea. No more WV. Lala
ReplyDelete;-)))
DeleteI confess that I have never eaten a fish taco. For some reason, they don't sound all that good to me. However, I love how you drew your food, as well as the girl with the swan neck. Great you can do that and not feel self-conscious about it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I won't say I am 100% unselfconscious yet...but getting there. I think it's the "zone" thing...once I enter "the zone" I no longer think about what I am doing I am just doing it.
DeleteFish taco's rock! But then I love fish! And toss in some cabbage, cilantro, and a slice of avocado on a corn tortilla! Hey, what's not to like?
Love the color drawing of your food..Book cover!! :)) Love the other drawings too. Fun that you keep at it. Also love the WV being gone. Very good. :))
ReplyDeleteCris, I definitely thought "book cover" with this drawing too!!! Thanks.
Deleteand yes, glad I finally found a way to rid my blog of WV.
First of all, I am sooooo glad you got rid of word verification! I hate word verification.
ReplyDeleteSecond, these drawings are amazing. Absolutely stunning. Your people are so individual. You really manage to capture their personalities.
You are inspiring me to start sketching people in real life! Kinda scary. (that means I need to do it...)
Ooh- you're braver than me, and I thought I was fairly brave about drawing in public. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI love your loose sketch style - you capture the whole scene and there is even some detail but it is an overall glimpse into the daily life at Jalisco's. I like the line drawings from previous post too, I remember doing that years ago in a high school art class. Fun exercise!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it Patty. I am loving Jalisco's more and more every time I go there. When I have the time I loose all track of time and drift with my drawings. It's such a good way to spend time.
