Lynn with Drawing Pen in Hand

This morning I drew and painted the bouquet of daffodils I took from our backyard yesterday after work. So I'd say spring has officially begun here in California.

I spent an exceptionally long noon hour(s) yesterday out side in the sunshine. First I had lunch at Jalisco's and drew the people on the right side of this drawing..notice the Valentine hearts on the front door.
Then I took a walk downtown and sat in the sun on a park bench in the town square and drew the people eating outside of the Pure Grain Bakery. What a beautiful day to be outside.
I stopped in at the bead store to buy a few beads for a new art quilt I am working on.
And at the hospital guild thrift store where I got a novel for 50 cents and three children's books for Allie Bel for a quarter each.

I drew this earlier over my own lunch at J's. I call it: "Table for One and Table for Five".

Meanwhile back at the bakery (the day before) I caught these two women at two separate tables, but drawn they look like they could be together.

This was my first drawing at the bakery yesterday. There were so many people there that  my line of vision kept being obscured by PEOPLE that could not fit into my drawing. So there are parts missing that hid behind those people.
I took these photos in my kitchen using flash but still they came out very yellow. It's the light not the paper color. I sure am enjoying drawing lately.

I hope my "word verification" does not hinder you in leaving comments if you wish to do so. I am trying to get rid of it but even with Suki's many emails of telling me how my page just does not seem to look like hers and I am yet unable to do it. But I will keep trying. I don't want to lose any of your wonderful and much appreciated comments because Blogger or Google had decided to challenge our vision!

I don't know about you, but I am planning to enjoy this extra long weekend! Hope you get to too.

  1. Lynn, I am reading your blog on a different browser so hopefully i will see the words that i need to type.

i must say i envy you your town where you can be among so many people and have so many shops and things nearby. You are going to have quite a collection of people sketches. I wonder what you will do with them?

    1. Right now the drawings are safe in my journal art books...but I am playing with the idea of self publishing a book of Jalisco drawings perhaps at the end of this year. I'll see how many I have by then. It's a thought.

  3. PS: The word verification makes no sense, as ALWAYS one of the words is so garbled up you can't possibly guess it, and the other clear.
I just give it my best shot, and doubt I've ever actually gotten the right word,,,I don't even try very hard. But it always works, and redirects me, and posts my comment.
    It's crazy.

  9. I've been taking on and off my word verification! I took it off, then got spammed and put it back on, but listened to Cris who said it goes into a spam folder, so I took it off again.

Love the sketches...hate blogger right now

    1. Thanks Mim.
I still do NOT have an option offered to remove WV on my layout. Don't know why.

  11. lynn, these and the others i've not commented on lately are all wonderful...you'd make a good illustrator. i've never been one to use pen and ink as it's so final and i like to change things if need be or want be[more like it]. as for the wv, my theory is google, in questionable-perhaps wizardom thinks it can do away with peeps using wv by making others so furious with it they stop going to blogs that have it....a theory that 'seems' to be true but we'll see...not comfy with changes to come and am moving myself to other parts yet unknown.

oops, almost forgot that the wv is under comments, read down to where you can turn it off. simple.

[yeah like i CAN read this one, sometimes it's 3-4 before finally....geez INFURIATING!]

well, take away choice is the name of the game here now with blogger turned google turned airheadS, i suppose...sorry for the rant but...

  12. Good-afternoon Lynn, I think the Daffodils are beautiful. I am so ready for spring. So much detail in all your drawings...I just love what you are doing.
Thank you for the story about when you were a little girl, I wish you would have lived across the street, it sounds like you had such good times with your playmates. I lived in a world of grown ups. I loved when my grandparents picked cotton because I had kids to play with at the end of the row...we would never see each other again. Pixley's largest town would have been Bakersfield, California. A dot on the map even today. Big Hugs, Mary

  13. Mary thanks. Glad you enjoy my details.
Ah, Bakersfield. I may have driven through, but don't think I've stopped there. Grandma came from Manteca...near by?
