A Weeks Worth of Drawings and Paintings

Sometimes I just feel like painting something at home...this is a view under my kitchen window drawn from my vantage point sitting at my patio table outdoors.
I love watching these flowers slowly bloom from closed bumpy pods, breaking open
to sprays of blue flowers.

Meanwhile back at Taco Jalico's on Tuesday I sat facing this woman, and later her little girl.
They had very long necks and faces like Modigliani paintings, not that I captured that here, but just stating a fact.

I painted them later at home...

I drew this couple the same day...they are THE COUPLE and they say hi to me when they come in... He often puts his arm around her. They remind me of a couple who may have been together since high school. Or, maybe it's a second marriage for both? Who knows. They sure do seem to love each other no matter how long it's been.

[The true story about this drawing can be seen on Twenty Minute Challenge blog and you can get there from the linked icon on my side bar.]
On Wednesday there were musican's again at the Town Square. There were mom's with little kids playing with dolls, a group from the developmentally delayed adult center, clusters of women, and this couple out enjoying listening to the three guitar players under the big canvas shades.

Meet the musicans! I apologize for not getting their names for you. They were good. I enjoyed them for a whole hour while I sat and drew as I listened.

This couple brought their own chairs and were so laid back. It was a pleasure watching them enjoying too!

When they finished I went into the bakery for my usual chicken salad sandwich on pumpkin seed bread. The bread seemed a little stale today. Oh well. That was definately a first ever!

But this guy is someone I have drawn before. He has a beard you cannot see in this drawing. But today he was wearing the most good looking shirt! It looked like zentangles and paisley all combined. It was various shades of blue and white with black outlines around the flowers, leaves and swirls. I got tired of painting last night so you will just  have to use your imagination!
And there was a woman sitting in front of  him.

A good week for drawing and painting. I thank all the unsuspecting models who show up for me each week.

Posting this for Paint Party Friday too...to see more of the terrific art from those artists go to the top icon on my side bar. You won't be disappointed.

  5. I also call Lilies of the Nile Agapanthus. They have both names. I knew them right off.. your drawings not only are getting better, but your painting of them are too. Love the Aura around the couple and how you paint bits and pieces and not the whole of the painting. I wish you could have painted that Hawaiian shirt or printed shirt.. what ever it was.. it looks fantastic. Happy early PPF.

    1. I'd call them Agapanthus if I could remember how to spell it but I can't. So Lilies of the Nile they are for me! lol

thanks for all your kudos. Maybe I'll get to the shirt at a later time.
      Glad you like it.

    1. Tracey your comment about the "old couple" made me laugh. They are so much younger than I am that I never thought of them as being "old". LOL Must be the gray hair that spurred that comment.

  11. You are an inspiration to keep drawing, keep sketching and incorporate it into daily life. Your skill level has greatly improved over time - it is hard to capture the essence of people in such a short time, yet you do it again and again! We're going to the cabin for the weekend and I'm hoping to spend some time with my artistic side!

    1. Joss, I am mostly drawing/painting now. I will commit a while longer to the Quilts Around the World art quilt group, which requires one small art quilt every three months, and perhaps the Sunflower Art Show will get another from me next year. But my passion really has turned to drawing right now. Who knows what the future will bring.

Love your quote about being alive when we ART!
