Lust for Life
We watched the movie, Lust for Life, last night. Kirk Douglas played Vincent Van Gogh. It was beautiful to see all the places he painted, the rooms he lived in, the fields, the trees, sunflowers, even the starry night. What a body of wonderful art this terribly troubled man left us to enjoy! Mental illness is difficult today, but must have been so much worse in his time without the medications and therapy to help that are available today.
I will be busy with grandchildren for the next three days. I am hopeful some fun art will come out of that. Theirs and mine! We shall see.

From the thumbnail I thought how pretty the flowers look. Haven't seen this film, but if they show it here I'll make a point to watch it.
ReplyDeleteOtitis is true, mental illness is supported these days and there is no need to suffer torment. A beautiful painter and soul!
DeleteHave a great time with your Grands. Mental illness is difficult and as you say back in Vincent's day it was much worse. So misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see that movie. I saw a large body of Van Goghs Art in an LA museum when his show was traveling. It was Awesome. I really started appreciating his work seeing it in person. Sad his life was cut so short but then would he have done such wonderful work had he been sane?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time with the grands and I'm sure there will be art involved.
ReplyDeleteGreat painting and I will definitely have to watch that movie! I just love Van Gogh!
