Correction: This is a Pika:
Pika's live at elevation above 10 thousand feet (read about them here) and we saw them on Medicine Wheel Mountain in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. They are about the size of large rabbit. Now after reading my own link I am not sure if these are Pika after all. They do not have round ears and they have long tails. Perhaps they are something else. Any guesses? DH was sure they are pikas.
Chipmunks are much smaller, and will eat out of your hand on the Needles Highway, South Dakota.
Buffalo or Bison abound in Custer State Park, South Dakota.
...in the Black Hills...
These horses lived where we stayed on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
This is the view outside The Odd Duck where we stayed for three days.
Here they are saying good bye as we departed.
My DH sits on air with the Devil's Tower towering behind him.
Happy Animal Wednesday
Henry V says hi.
Gorgeous photos! Loved them all but especially the horses! Any drawings?
ReplyDeleteNo drawings of the animals, yet Rosemary, but many of our trip in earlier posts...scroll backwards to see them!
DeleteYou got to see all sorts of critters. Those pica make a funny noise too sometimes. I just love chipmunks and horses. DH is making magic.
ReplyDeleteLove these photos Lynn. Was Devils Tower in an old film once about outer space?, it sort of looks familiar. Hugs to Henry V (if he's not too busy teasing the dog next door..lol)
ReplyDeleteThe movie you are thinking of Ann is ----------- of a third kind"
DeleteWe are not sure yet but we think the dog next door may be moving. A van came and took things away this last week.
Close encounters of a third kind...is the movie with Richard Dreyfus. Loved that movie and yes he made an image of devils tower out of mashed potatoes.
Deleteah a wonderful array of animals and a new one for me. The pika. never heard of this guy
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of it either Suki, but DH knew all about it, of course!
