The second to last week in December at Tacos Jalisco ... I drew people in two different parts of the room, but made it look like they are next to each other ... they are NOT! I rearranged the room!
On Thursday there was a lot of white clothing worn by many!
Saved on paints!
I guess I had a lot of time on my hands, as I had time to draw two pages. "The Couple" came in and it just felt right to get them in by years end one more time. They appear in my book sixteen times!
I posted this yesterday, but not many visited my blog, so I am posting it again today. It was our view from the car at Bodega Bay on the 25th of this month! I don't think I'll paint it. It was a gray day drawn through the rain covered window from the gray interior of our car. I don't want to use up all my gray paint!
Yesterday I was back at Tacos Jalisco. I fit these people in as I could. Nice that that guy leaned over so I could get the folks behind him. The big guy in front is really behind the couple in front, but I liked his girth and wanted all of him in my picture. I like taking artist's license! The festive table cloths add much needed color as almost everyone was wearing black again.
Cecilia refused my $20 bill I handed her and said she didn't want it, tossed it back to me at the counter. Then she came around the counter to give me a warm hug, saying Felice Navidad!
She is a sweetheart! This is the second time she would not let me pay for my lunch. But who's counting?
Be sure to hop over to Paint Party Friday via the icon on my side bar to see all the wonderful artist's works there! I've made a great many new friends from there this year and I am ever so grateful for their visits and feedback!
Your sketches are so colorful and just make me smile. They are loose and sketchy but capture so much of the real people. I know that "loose" sketchy drawings are sometimes harder to do than complete realism - I just enjoy your sketches so much. Need to have a looser feel to my own drawings!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you sometimes concentrate color on certain things. Like you highlighted THE COUPLE and made them stand out. All wonderful drawings as usual. HPPF early. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful set of drawings! I like that you have moved the people around to suit your design. As always your drawings/paintings are so real that I feel like I'm eating lunch there too.
ReplyDeletelove these new pieces!!!! so much to see!!! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!!!
ReplyDeleteLynn - I'm new to comment, although, I've been following you for quite a while now. I love your sketches & paintings. I like the looseness of your watercolors. My watercolor painting is too tight. I'd like to paint looser (is that a word?) & more free.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Grandma Nancy
Thank you Grandma Nancy! Welcome! Thank you for your kind comment. I'd love to see your art. I bet it's just fine!!

ReplyDeleteLove the little Christmas details on your Jalisco sketches and your wonderful, detailed black and white sketch! Your posts make me smile! :) HPPF!
ReplyDeleteThese are sweet! I especially like Thursday's with all of the white. I like taking artistic license too, your choices seem to very much add to the scenes.
ReplyDeleteI love your sketches and paintings, and the way how you describe your world through art. Thank you so much for sharing and have a very Happy PPF!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is clever drawing them to look like they belong together. I wish I could sit there and watch you watching them. And I am not surprised she wouldn't let you pay! Have a happy and very arty 2013 Lynnie, which I know you will.
ReplyDeleteIt must feel good to draw around everyone like this happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteevery work of yours has a story to tell...wonderful ! Have a splendid 2013 :)
ReplyDeleteSo much to say, yes, the grey day does not need grey paint, it might lighten up the day. This is perfect. Don't have many of those in Sunny So, FL, but that is exactly what it looks like when we do. Great idea. The people, OMGosh, each with their own personalities because of your wonderful drawings. Blessings, Janet PPF

these are so wonderful Lynn and I look forward to visiting each week. Love how you squeezed the people in, and of course your paint saving technique made me smile too. Happy PPF and happy 2013!
ReplyDeleteI love how you take your artistic license and rearrange rooms and fit people in so that it works. Each sketch is such a story in and of itself. Beautiful! Happy new you to you!! Happy PPf
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these. The last one is my favorite, I'm glad you took creative license and drew all of the big guy, I think that's my favorite part. Sketching like this is such good practice, I wish I was doing more of it. You capture a good range of emotions and interactions between people.
ReplyDeleteI truly love your work. I am beginning to feel like I know these people especially the owners of Jalisco's. If I ever got to eat there, it would feel like home. All of the details you include are incredible.
ReplyDeleteWonderful work! You just get better and better! ^_^
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to You ~ A Creative Harbor aka ~ ArtMuseDog and Carol ^_^
What fun!
ReplyDeleteOne of the beauties of art is that we get a glimpse into seeing how others view the world. Thanks for showing us how you view yours with your beautiful sketches. Best wishes for 2013.
ReplyDeleteI really like the painting where a lot of people were wearing white. It created a nice balance on the page and allowed for more distinct focus points. Really nice! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou have really come into your own style this year, Lynn. Another thing to celebrate as we say good bye to 2013. Cheers and Happy New Year, Talented One !
