Healing!

Yesterday I underwent oral surgery for a bone graft to close a gap between two teeth caused by bone loss. They doped me up an hour ahead with Valium and something else for pain! I am not a huge fan of having things like this done to my body or with taking mind altering drugs. ( something I gave up eons ago) but let me tell you in this case they really worked. I must have been a tad nervous the night before, as I did not sleep a wink! But the Valium did its trick and even though I was able to draw accompanying drawing quickly in the waiting room, prior to going in, I was super calm and mello. The doc and staff were very calm, and encouraging, and considerate, gentle, all one could ask for in such a situation. I got though the gazillion numbing injections with ease, I did not feel a thing. I did not feel any of the operation either. Nor did I care what they were doing. He said it took two hours. It seemed like maybe 30 minutes to me.
Since then, I have had no discomfort at all. Have taken no pain meds all day today. Been sleeping on and off in my recliner waking to play games on my iPad , but I guess my body is still slowly letting go of the Valium, I feel fine. Not doing much, and hope that chances by tomorrow, but, hey, that was easy!! The picture is of my dear husband who took me there and waited to bring me back home. He's a sweety!

PS I posted this to my blog via a new app for the iPad called Blogger! It worked!

  3. Only a truly obsessive artist would think of sketching at a time like that. I would have been beside myself with fear! It is a brilliant sketch too. I am glad you got through the surgery with ease, and that you heal up quickly

  8. I'm glad your surgery went well, since they're always scary, no matter how "minor" that may be considered. I just love to see where you've been through your artwork. I always carry art supplies with me when I travel, but not very good about it on other occasions. I need to start doing that. Blessings!

  20. That sounds so painful but I'm glad the drugs worked and have kept you pain-free this far! Super impressed that you even found time for a quick illustration as you waited - that would've been the last thing on my mind, I have to admit!

  25. I had not one millisecond of pain or discomfort, nor a drop of blood from this post surgery! Hard to believe, but true. Two days later I was flying with my extremely high flying energy and you should see my house, it shines!
