Busy Drawing This Week Lynn Cohen

Next month I'll be starting Sketchbook Skool on line. The first two artists teaching will be Danny Gregory in LA, CA and Koosje in Amsterdam. I was watching a conversation between the two of them about the classes while I quickly drew them in caricatures.  I hope they won't be offended.

Over at Paper, Paint, Pencils & Pens our new theme: "Kitchen"  started March 1 and is running through March 15th.  I drew our cat Henry V eating his morning meal on our Kitchen floor. His spot.

Then I made my own breakfast and stood and drew and painted the fruit I set out for making my morning smoothie: Non-dairy coconut milk, organic blueberries and strawberries, organic apple and grapefruit, and organic banana. A hand full of almonds. They all get into the blender cup and are pulverized using my Ninja Pro Blender. It's a quick, nutritious and delicious breakfast. I sometimes use fresh organic pineapple, and greens like kale or spinach. Cinnamon and walnuts or Brazil nuts, Flax and Chai seeds add more health benefits.

At lunch I opened a can of Amy's Organic Chili. Also delicious. No preservatives or additives. Very Vegan!

Dinner is a bit more of a production chopping veggies and sautéing them in olive oil in a wok.
The recipe is intermixed with the veggies and fruit. I forgot the garlic. I always use at least two or more fresh garlic cloves! I served this over a layer of Farro cooked al dente, delicious whole grain.

I caught DH making his own breakfast in the kitchen ...

... followed by my morning smoothie prep of blue berries, strawberries, apple, pineapple, Brazil nuts, cinnamon, non-dairy coconut milk.

Another dinner this time using my beloved "Spiralizer" that turns veggies like zucchini into pasta shaped food perfect for a lentil marinara sauce dish!

And this kitchen is at Tacos Jalisco, the place you know I go to draw and eat. They make me an excellent veggie bowl with grilled vegetables, rice, beans, lettuce and thick slices of avocado.
If you are new(ish) to my blog you might want to check out my book:
"One Fish Taco, Half an Order of Guacamole, A Year of Drawing Over Lunch at Tacos Jalisco"
via the icon on my side bar.
It's all about how I got brave enough to draw in public and the wonderful people I met and drew along the way. I hear it has inspired more than a few others to start doing the same thing.

Back at home I drew our two favorite cups, his on the left, mine on the right.

And finally this vase of flowers from my Kitchen Counter. A full week of art making close to home mostly in my own kitchen. Kitchen being our theme these first two weeks in March at Paper, Paint, Pencils & Pens. Come join in the fun at this active, friendly blog with 22 other artists. It's an open group. Leave me your email here or there and I'll send you an invite.

Happy Paint Party Friday and Sunday Sketchers too! Those links are on the sidebar here.

Have a fun creative week and thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.
I appreciate them so very much.

  9. Wow, wow, wow! Lynn, you have really been painting and sketching up a storm. All of these live up to your usual fun and lovely standards and are so enjoyable to look at. I especially like the back view of your hubby and I love the cat eating. How cool! And yes, I learned to fly fish with my dh. I kept some of the fly rods when he died and hope to go fishing again some day, maybe this year later on.

I am such a fan of your drawings and the way you document your life through illustration... All of these are fabulous! And coconut milk is my favorite liquid to use in my daily "green" smoothies too... It looks like we have very similar eating habits :)

    2. Google Danny Gregory to find Sketchbook Skool. As far as I know it's still open enrollment. Six or eight teachers will teach different classes of one week each, I believe. On line. In early April.
