On Saturday Morning I got up with the explicit plan to go down town and draw at the Farmer's Market!
I packed a light back pack with art journal, pens, paints and water. My small light weight-fold up chair works wonders! I found a spot, sat and drew and painted the scenes in front of me and then turned to the side and drew that too. I realized drawing quickly, as I had to to capture the fast moving people walking or buying fruit and vegetables, gave me a completely different look to my drawings than I usually get.
The spirit of the market and all that fresh produce moved me to want to do something in my own back yard that I hadn't done in a very long time. Since our earth is clay and pretty much fully planted already I went out and bought some pots and plants and came home and potted a little starter garden ...
... of Big Girl Tomatoes, Cherry tomatoes, Eight Ball squash and Basil.
I even used Organic planting soil and Organic plant food!

On Sunday we took a trip to San Francisco and visited our beloved Hyde Street Pier. We went on all the ships!

I don't know why I love this old tug boat so much, but I do. And this was the first time we were there when it was possible to go aboard her! It was fun looking into all the nooks and crannies of her insides and walking around her outsides too. Her name is Hercules!
There is lots of art aboard ships!
It was a fun day, with deli salad, a stop in the Warming Hut, a walk on the pier by the GG Bridge, which was hidden in fog; A trip to the Friends of the Library bookstore where I purchased a huge tome on Organic and Whole Foods!
