Last Week and This Week's Art (most of it) by Lynn CoMo

I missed blogging last week. I guess I just got busy with the new klass in Sketchbook Skool called "Polishing". I haven't even posted any of my homework from that class, although it was great fun. We did comic strips of conversations and of our days.

But as you can see I also was busy drawing my Urban Sketches at the local coffee houses around here.

While the people there posed quietly and seemingly willingly for me. I'm convinced that they are so absorbed in their own lives that they haven't a clue what I am doing with mine.

Take this little kid for instance! He was so into the music pumping into his ears   from his headphones and his hand held device that he had no idea I was sitting right behind him drawing his bright red ear pieces and tennis shoes!

I've drawn this couple numerous times before. They always sit at the same table way in the back. Her hair was down today and looked so pretty and smooth!

We went out to lunch in Davis one day. Husband is reading the newspaper while I drew him, as we waited for our orders to be served at our table.

This is a different coffee place I sometimes go to alone when my husband goes to his guitar class. So I know this was a Sunday. They put a little sticker on my bag with my oatmeal in it.

These people were there too. Two at a counter and two at a table in front of me.

And this large group sat right directly in front of me. First it was just the one guy scratching his head. Then the guy next to him showed up and later the other two couples joined them.
I had time to gradually add each person in that way!

This is that woman student who comes OFTEN and STAYS LONG to study. I liked this pose she gave me on this particular day.

I enjoy giving my folks things to talk about like I've done here  a few times.

I liked how I captured the gal on the right holding her hair in a tail as she studied with her friend. When she let go it just cascaded down over her shoulder and back.

Another Sunday, where other "regulars" gather and talk. And I get my table in the back and draw them.

These gals are "Regulars" at this place, but were NOT there last week. I missed them. I wonder if they missed me?

And theses gals were new to me. I hope I get to draw them again sometime.

It's been a creative week. I probably have ten more drawings in my second art journal, but this is certainly enough for one blog post.

I wore my "Paint Party Friday" necklace that I won two weeks ago, all week long. I love it. Thanks again for that wonderful prize!

I'm wishing you all a very CREATIVE WEEK! Art is good therapy. It's fun to do and amazing to collect and look back on as it tells the story of my life and the lives of others.

Thanks for coming by and for your comments, as they KEEP ME DRAWING!!!
Yes, it's all your fault!!! ;-)

22 Pieces of Art Drawn Since Last Thursday by Lynn

Welcome to my blog, if this is your first visit or if you are someone who comes here often! I appreciate your visits! And welcome to my week of drawing around town.

That guy up there and the people and gal down below these words were at the Coffee House near by where we live. The guy sat for quite a while allowing me to capture him on his two phones. Then when I was finished so was he and he got up and left.

This young woman was busy at "the wall" doing her work. The couple sat across from me in the big orange chairs. But I had to put a bit of mischief into the drawing.

And perhaps you recognize her by now. She is a student who comes here every day we do, which can be three or more times a week. She brings her books and laptop and talks on her phone. It's a pleasure watching her absorbing so much information.

Last Thursday we were at Barnes and Noble Cafe and I found the "Cook Book Lady" there again, but this time I didn't see any books. She was doing something else!

The blond gal was reading a graphic novel and I swear she read the whole thing before she got up to leave!

The folks below were busy at the tables on the high stools.

"Flat"

Now we are now seeing drawings I did for EVERY DAY IN MARCH!
The Prompts are under each picture.

 "Favorite Kitchen Appliance"

"Element"

Meanwhile back at the Coffee House! People everywhere doing all sorts of things.

Sometimes I like just drawing in ink and leaving it alone ... no color.

They come and go and stay for various lengths of time. It's hit or miss who you will be able to finish drawing!

This grandmother and grandchild were at the grocery store deli having lunch when we were! So they of course got into my art journal.

"On TV"

Another prompt for Every Day in March: ... "On TV". We watch a lot of news shows and this guy is in the news on most channels more than I need to see; however, he was good for this drawing if not for much else (in my humble opinion). Sorry, if you are a great fan. I just drew what was happening and being said while watching TV that evening. We are all entitled to our opinions, but I am not opening this up for a political conversation on my blog. Just sharing art.

Back at the Coffee House on a rainy day. The picture tells the story.

These women were either busy on laptops or busy chatting with each other or both.

My husband accompanies me on most of my drawing jaunts. He reads. I draw. This time I drew him reading.

I've  drawn this woman several times as well. She has a lot of hair.

... and that guy doesn't have any.

"Perspective"

I did this there too, but it also worked for a prompt of "Perspective" for Every Day in March. The way I had to draw him on the corner turn in the wall; and the different perspectives of thinking.

"Baked"

"Glass"

"In the style of ... "

I chose a huge poster book I have by Fred Babb, an artist I discovered when I found this book of his drawings..
It's wild and colorful and his lettering is great too.
Unfortunately he has died.
Fortunately his wife put together this big book of some of his art works.

I changed it up a bit so it's mine, but 'like his'!

I hope you enjoyed your journey through all these pictures! I sure had fun making them all.
See you next week?

I wish you a CREATIVE WEEK!

Thanks for your comments
as they do keep me
drawing!

Another art filled week

I'll begin with the last drawing I did this week (so far) which I actually drew for the prompt on my other blog, Paper, Paint, Pencils and Pens: Tools.

This is my new art supply bag and it's a real dream, as its so roomy and easy to use! You can see how much it can hold!

You know I love drawing at Starbucks, and making my people talk ...

... or dream up stories about them!

          "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie "

Cartoons for prompts for Everyday in January ...

"Snug As a Bug in a Rug"

This one is "My Time Flies":

A friend at Sketchbook Skool drew me this week, as part of some homework for our Expressing klass on lettering, so I returned the favor and drew her:

It's been a difficult week as we waited for a dear family member, the father of my children, to die, which he did early this morning. I drew my way through several days of learning he was in hospice, my kids at his side, along with his dear wife, her kids, grandkids, and our two oldest grand children. We remained friendly over the years and family gatherings were places we could be together comfortably.
So I feel his loss deeply. He was a good, loving man. I will miss Michael and am very sad for our kids and grandkids!

It's hard not to think of ones own mortality at a time like this. Art helps.

I'll let these two speak for themselves.

Some of my homework for Expressing klass:

Earlier in the week at Starbucks:

Another selfie!

Starbucks people

More lettering

Another crazy selfie:

"Painting The Town Red" was a Prompt for Everyday in January.
This reminded me of buildings I drew in Germany  last year!

More homework:

Collage of first 15 selfies this month

"A Herd of Turtles":

I
This was selfie #15. I apologize if I am repeating some pictures from last week. I'm too tired to check that out!

I visited my friend Deb,who is recovering from surgery. I drew her sister... She's reading Danny Gregory's book "A Kiss Before You Go" about how he used drawing and keeping an art journal to process his grief when his wife, Patti died. Deb is grieving the recent death of her husband! I hoped the book would be helpful to her and she said it was.

Meanwhile back at Starbucks ( can you tell I'm a little discombobulated today? I am!

This might be a repeat too!

This is Deb, I need to call and see how she's doing! I talked her into joining sketchbook Skool and she already did some awesome art! Art heals, you know!

Breakfasts at Starbucks:

People leaving before I'm done with them can be a challenge...

And I'll end on a happy note with my dancing mouse and pig!

Wishing you a creative week! I apologize if you are seeing any of this for a second time, but I know you'll be understanding and let me off the hook just this once.

Be well and enjoy every minute! It's what we've got!
See you next week!
