Art in Solano County by local artists
An amazing quilt made by a group of local quiltersand check out the long narrow cloth piece with black borders above the window over the peoples heads
Yesterday was the opening reception at our local art gallery for the "Life In Solano County" art show. It was held both outdoors and inside the gallery. Food, drink and live music entertained as we milled about outdoors looking at the metal sculptures of a local artist, Phil Glassoff. Inside was the art of many artists of many different medias: oils, watercolors, mixed media, art quilts, collages, ceramics, tiled mosaics, small dolls, photography, and so on. I met some very interesting artists and had nice conversations with several. I loved the live music that was from my era. So I think were the musicians. ;-) or there abouts.Oh look there is my collage above the doorway!
Looks like a great reception. You got some great shots. I think your collage looks good there.
ReplyDeletewill come back to look more when Have more time.
oh LOVE your header.. when did you take that photo???
ReplyDeletelove the kids and the flute player and the first quilt. wow
Lynn how wonderful that your quilting brought you into contact with this wonderful community of artists. I love that mermaid and also the woman with flute. Your quilt looks lovely over the doorway. It all looks like such fun.
ReplyDeleteLynn dear, I thought I had answered about the ATC's. YES. They are small. Just 2 1/2 by 3 1/2. What can i say? It's a fun challenge to create something that small.
Be well, Suki
Thanks Cris, I took the sunset photo this June when we were in Seattle, Washington visiting friends. It was taken from the deck of their home high up over looking the water down below.
ReplyDeleteSuki, glad you liked the art too.
My collage is paper copies of my photos cut out and glued on canvas covered in gel. It does kind of look quiltish though doesn't it?
Okay, so the ATCs are very small. I tried one yesterday. I will have to be very patient to work this small. I'll see what I can come up with.
Watch out...you'll get addicted to those ATC's.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful reception this sounds like, and what fun to have live music, good conversation and beautiful weather and art.
Yes, Mim, the art show reception was fun.
ReplyDeleteAbout the ATCs, I have started three...but it's quite a challenge working in that tiny format. Not sure I am getting the draw yet.
They look bigger on others blog sites! ;-) I am impressed how artful many look.
