Fun Saturday Turns Scary...Ends Well

What started out to be a fun day, got abruptly interrupted with a phone call and then a run to the hospital. It was my daughter calling to say my brother was in the hospital for tests. He'd been having sudden abdominal pain. He called them, as they live very near each other. My Son in law took him to ER in the morning. Daughter found me by phone at the Whole Earth Fair an hour away from them all. I had to return home and wait for DH to get home too (he was off on his own somewhere & he'd left his cell phone at home!) but by the time it took me to pack an overnight bag he walked in the door and we were off and running. Long story shorter, we got to the ER after Bro got his diagnosis of gall stones...and was being released to go home. Whew. He has a Dr. appointment for two weeks from now to speak to a surgeon. They'll decide what to do. In the meantime he's to eat bland food and if pain returns to go directly to the ER again. We will sleep over, hang out tomorrow a bit, see how bro is doing and then go home if all is well. Then I will tell you about meeting Terry Busse for a quick visit at her awesome booth at the fair; seeing my friend Diane's wonderful quilts; and my fun, fun, fun time with grand kids. And of course there will be photos so stay tuned.

  1. Pleased to hear that your brother was allowed home, it's always a worrying time when someone gets rushed to hospital. Never mind they will sort him out soon.

  4. Hi Lynn,

Wow.... that must have been very stressful. During situations like that, we just can't seem to move fast enough. Waiting to go must have been difficult. I'm glad that your brother was able to go home, although I'm sure the prospect of surgery isn't pleasant. Perhaps those nasty stones will pass on their own. We can hope!

I'm glad that you were able to make it, albeit a short trip, to see Terry's booth. She is so fun. I love her paintings.

Wishing you an abundance of joy on this special Mom's Day!

    Hugs,
    Terri

  5. OMG...That isn't such a good thing at all..coz I've gone thru the same. I had to undergo an emergency surgery last December. I was carrying it for 3 yrs & the docs couldn't diagnose it. I was getting frequent pains. Sometimes I couldn't even breathe. Finally I went to India in Dec & the docs suggested emergency operation. Phew!!! Hell lottatime:(

Hope your bro's is an early stage and he'll be fine with meds. Mine was a latter stage. If it had been diagnosed earlier there wudn't have been a need to go thru the op.

Anyways Thank God for his grace:)
And I hope ur bro gets well soooon.
    Take care.

Tell your bro that I had my gallbladder out years ago and it was the best thing I ever did!!! I felt like a million dollars afterwards, cause I hadn't realized how bad I had been feeling before!
