Sweet Fig Bliss

I thought I'd give your eyes (and mine) a rest from the mono prints wall hanging. Even though I must have put 13 hours in on it today (Saturday)! And it's almost done!!!!! Instead I am offering you figs from our HUGE fig tree in our back yard. Here I am collecting them Saturday morning and holding them in my shirt. I later went in for a colander and filled it. I then took a bag full to my next door neighbor who loves them almost as much as I do. Not to worry, I kept enough to keep me in sweet bliss all day long. Have a lovely Sunday!

  1. I have never had fresh figs before. Actually the only way I have eaten figs is in Fig Newtons. They are quite pretty.

  4. These are lovely looking. We picked figs yesterday too from our neighbors tree, and today I am getting some strawberries and making fig and strawberry jam soon. Fair made some and let us taste. OHGosh it is yummy. Happy sewing. :))

  6. Figs and plums...what sweet summer bounty. Love the monos--would like a T-shirt with those designs on it, wouldn't that be eye catching.

  7. Yummy! Figs are so sweet and delicious.

You are a girl after my own heart. I found myself carrying in pears the other day using my shirt just as you did. Our shirt "baskets" remind me of the aprons our ancestors used.

    Happy harvesting!

PS F.M. took my profile picture while I was working in the library last year. He didn't even roll his eyes when I asked him to. :-) Not that's a kind friend.

  8. I love figs too, but have never cooked with them. I've only eaten the store-bought kind, as in Fig Newtons. :)

  9. I guess I am the only one here that does not like them but they make a beautiful apron full!

Can't wait to see what the sewing queen has made.

  10. Considering how hard it is to get fresh figs here and how expensive they are when you find them, you are holding a small fortune there in your shirt. YUM!
