Cactus Monday AND Girlfriends Sketchbook page for Lynnette's Traveling book

This ink drawing I painted with watercolors reminds me of the characters in Waiting For Godot! Who/what do you see? (click to enlarge) This is the cactus in the park I photographed last week.
Happy Cactus Monday

*****

Starting with my page in the traveling sketchbook this weekend found me working on lots of art. This exciting piece is

my full page 12" X 6"
for Lynette's traveling girlfriends sketchbook...

Lynette's theme is a butterfly garden so I did my page using my dyed paper towels and dyed

dryer sheets (blues/reds/yellows/browns/greens) and glued them down and then top sewed free motion style to create the butterfly, apple tree, basket, grass and flowers you see here.

I added two butterfly charms that Patty and I found at the bead store on Friday...

This next series of photos shows you the enormity of the book with the pages of seven (7) artists so far...this book has traveled from Virgina, to New York, to MA, to New Hampshire, to Ohio, to London and to California. I will send it on to Oklahoma and it will go from there to Illinois, to North Carolina and finally back to Virgina.

The art is collaged, waxed, sewn, painted, drawn, embellished...

is full of charm and charms...

with different types of paper from shiny slick, canvas, watercolor, brown paper bag...

from beginning to end

  1. HCM Lynn. You have certainly been busy. I love the CM painting. The cactus seems to be trying to tell us something. Perhaps it is saying it is thankful you brought it alive and gave it a voice. It is shouting for joy.

Your page is terrific. All the lovely detail. The little charm is a fitting addition.
