Brunch for Patty; A Day At the Bead Shop!

When Patty comes to brunch she always comes bearing fresh flowers!

I got up early and got the house in order, and brunch started before Patty arrived...

Set the table with nice linens, Valentine coasters, mother's cut glass and grandma's china...put out the juice, jam, cream cheese, yogurt with fresh fat blue berries...warm cinnamon and raisin bagels, and hot herbal tea... When Patty came in I only had to make the omelet. Here she is nicely telling Henry she knows it smells good but sorry, nothing there for him.

omelet is with mushrooms, green onions, avocado, fresh spinach, cheddar cheese

On full stomachs we leave for the bead shop where we get individual attention as we start our first ever projects...Dave, who works there and is quite the artist, helps Patty get started.

Here Dave is showing me the art of making a loop in my wire

Diane, who was just there on her day off to bead herself, spent more time assisting Patty and me. Here she is teaching me how to back thread my wire through the bead again to attach larger beads to my longer necklace.

The shop was a hub bub of activity all day long with men and women coming and going, getting instruction, picking out beads, sitting down and making jewelry. The woman in this photo behind Patty in the red sweater sat down at the table across from me and I immediately recognized her.

She told me her name. I graduated high school with her and was seeing her for the first time in 50 years!

Here on the table were all the tools we had at our disposal to use.

After five long hours Patty was quite proud of her endeavors! She made a most beautiful delicate necklace using lovely, lovely beads.

Just about done now!

My beads are from a friends recent visit to Kenya. The square ones and the larger ones in front and the turquoise ones are all from Kenya. The others also are bone beads from Africa.

And I am proud to say I wire wrapped the large beads myself!

And then we were done, time to go home and Patty turns to me and tells me she made her necklace...........................for me!

What are you going to do with a best friend like this?

Thanks again, Patty.

You shouldn't have.

And I love it!
