My first day of my first ever Art Retreat at Art and Soul Portland happened at the Sheraton Hotel at the Portland Airport~ My first of two classes I would take in two days was Judy Wise's Art of Journal Making!
The room full of artistically talented women (humm, just realized there were no men in either of these classes)...
A place to learn from not only our wonderful instructor, but also our table mates...Linda from Washington sat next to me and taught me many things...we were quite the team, me with my hearing loss and she with a vision challenge...we helped each other out when we could...
OHMIGOD, here Judy had scooped up MY JOURNAL to show the others how I followed her assignment of adhering an envelope window to my page and stuffed a letter to my inner artist into it!
Then Judy showed us how to draw upside down and create faces without being inhibited by our own inner critics... First hers...
Then mine...
This very full day that started at 9 a.m. and went till 4:30 p.m. left me drained in the most glorious of ways. I had not slept much the night(s) before...way too excited...and so by days end I was ready to collaspe.
but before I could I had to first wash my hands and then go out to dinner with my son, DIL, and grand daughter for more delightful time together.
I will have to make a thousand collages to share all the photos I took, to capture all the inspiration I came away with...and tomorrow I will share the second day in Judy's Encaustics class!
I'm home now, but still feel a glow of this fun retreat! I can't wait to do it all again next year.
Shes baaaaaaack.. in more ways then one. I can see the creative wheels burning already. Looks like so much fun. Were you drawing upside down or did you turn the drawing around upside down?? Just checking.. lol Look forward to more. I can see the bug has bit you to return. Theres nothing like creating with others. You do help & learn from each other.

ReplyDeleteI'm so in awe of everything you get to do. I really enjoyed the looks of that class. I am sure I would have fun at one of these retreats, because it sounds like you did. And it sounds like you had a place to stay while you were there, which helps, too.
