Another Day Another Challenge! I am finding that taking on these challenges to produce art is inspiring me to do just that. After having had a bit of a dry spell since late December I am now once again back to my feel good energy and cranking out more and more art quilts...small ones, 8" X 11" to fit into a quilt journal.
This latest is through 3CreativeStudios and is called Color Palette Challenge. On the 15th of each month we will be offered a color palette from which to create art in any medium we choose. It could be a post card, an ATC, a painting, mixed media, or art quilt (or other of your choice).
This is the first color palette presented for this challenge. On Sunday it took me no time at all to gather materials in these colors from which I could have used a few to all. I think I pretty much covered the gambit! The background to my small art quilt is commercial fabric which I felted on my felting machine to batting. I added silk neckties from these colors for the 3 tree tops and machine felted them as well. I added bits of wool felted down onto the silk. The same with the felt tree trunks; the silk next layer and the bottom layer of upholstery fabric. I then chose small beads in these colors and sewed them on. I top stitched free motion style with my machine and hand stitched around the three trees with turquoise sewing thread.

I used green felt for the backing and sewed it with right sides facing and turned it out like a pillow case giving it rounded edges and corners. Someone said it would make an attractive bag.
