My Weekend!

I don't know about you, but I was pretty much glued to my TV set this weekend watching the news coming in from Japan. I can knit and watch TV at the same time so I felt productive, while sad and overwhelmed by what I was seeing. As you can see I am at the ninth of 13 stripes that go around the outer part of this baby blanket! Still knitting in the round!
I also made a few more yo-yo flowers from my
silk necktie collection!
The bright side was receiving a photo of my kids (front) and daughter in law (back)
from Oregon from my son's IPhone. My daughter traveled there with her daughter to celebrate the kids step brother's 50th birthday.
Sweet for me to see them together.
And seeing an elderly Japanese woman and two companions rescued from their car 20 hours after their tsunami ordeal this morning also warmed my heart. ♥

  4. I don't know about you, but if that were me, I'd be brought back to the events of the weekend every time I see the stripes you knit while watching the news unfold. There is a bittersweetness to our memory banks when linked with what our hands are doing. You will be able to tell your grandchild of compassion and sorrow and how it is part of God's plan to knit human connections into our lives.

  10. Your little yo yos are so sweet Lynn. They make wonderful flowers with button centers. The baby afghan is going to be marvelous. I would get too sad watching the coverage of the Japan tragedy. Just getting glimpses on the nightly news brings me to tears.
