Art Journal Quilt Converts to Journal Cover

First I made this little Art Journal Quilt for the 3CreativeStudios color palette and art journal challenges. You can see the color palette under the quilt. I used the printed fabric that I got at an estate sale on Saturday, some furniture fabric from the thrift store and part of a sleeve from a blouse I got from my aunt Mimi. A sweet gift arrived in the mail for me this past weekend and I decided to send a thank you by converting this art journal quilt into a journal book cover. Here you see the front of the cover. I lined the inside with batting and a layer of the fruity print fabric, and used yellow cotton I got at a garage sale on Saturday for the notebook cover to fit into...I added a small note book inside for writing...or drawing...or it could also be used to contain a small pocket book ...
Here is the back! Don't you just love photos of art taken in nature? I do. ;-))
I top stitched the quilt/cover free motion style. Added grommets and string for a closure.
This was my first ever endeavor of this sort, but it was pretty easy so I see it as a nice way to use my
art journal quilts and might convert more of them!!!

  1. What a beautiful cover! I love recycling/re-purposing artwork. I also like taking photos of art in nature. The natural light is best and the background is lovely.

  2. It looks awesome, but not all that easy to me. Sure love nature's beauty in the background, too. It's a wonderful way to show how spring is here.

  7. This journal cover looks especially good outside since it has flowers on it. Love all the detail. My garden journal has a leather cover that I have used for 11 years now. I just change out the journal. I think you are on to something here.
