Read All Night, Read All Day; and one painting

I started reading this book,  Room, by Emma Donoghue, on Sunday, at bedtime around 10:30 PM.
I
continued reading, and around
2 A.M. I finally told myself that as hard as it was to put this book down I had to get some sleep.
Fortunately, for me I had Monday off work...so I got up at eight and read until I finished it at 2 PM.
What a read! I've put the book covers here for you to read, but I won't say anymore, other than it is the very best book I have read in a very long time. I don't remember being as gripped by a book since reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road.
I cannot recommend Room highly enough for it's exquisite writing, it's compelling story, and the connection you will make to the characters, Ma and Jack. Jack is five and he's the narrator of their story. It's emotional. And being an emotional person I cried buckets, such a purge.

*************

Late this afternoon I drew and painted this small picture of a baby!
Nothing to do with the above mentioned book.

  1. Hmmmm I have been needing a good read. I will try this one. I hope I can sleep at night. :)

Nice painting. The little fellow has lots of expression.

    1. Lisa, just start it when you have time to read for a long spell at once. It's not a book you want to read just a few minutes before falling to sleep at night (which is how I normally read).

Glad you like my little child drawing.

  5. Okay, sounds like a book I'll need to pick up. I love it when I find a book that won't let me go!

I've never read The Road, either, so that gives me two book recommendations! Yay!

  12. I toyed with buying that book recently but decided I didn't want to cry!! By the way, I read your comment regarding blogging at KJ's place and just wanted to mention that I think FB does play a part - if I comment there I don't often duplicate! Also you are such a prolific poster that as much as I want to, I sometimes just can't keep up!

  13. oh my gosh, i read this book too and thought the very same thing -- i hadn't read a book so fast since "the road". i own both of these and adore each of them. my friend has it now and i want her to hurry and read it as i'm ready to read it again (she's had it about 7 months, haha).
