I walked into Jalisco's on Thursday to be greeted warmly with a hug by Carlos. He was truly excited to see me, as he had news to share! Carlos, the owner's son, is an artist of great talent. He told me he has entered a contest with a first prize of $3000! Then he showed me a painting he did on his Tablet of Johnny Dep in costume in his latest film Dark Shadow I think (something like that). Carlos' drawing was incredible. I wish I had a way to show it to you here. Take my word for it.
Please join me in crossing fingers and wishing Carlos Winners Luck!
I looked around after sitting down to see who I was going to draw this day.
I chose the woman on the far left first. I liked her sleek look in professional business attire, long blond hair and glasses on her head.
Slowly others came in and I added the woman in the middle back with the pony tail.
Then I drew the woman not at her table but slightly in front of her at the next table over.
What I drew next thinking it was that woman's very large purse on the table turned out to be a tall baby stroller.
I turned it into a baby rocker on top of the table and added the baby I really could not see inside.
But when his mommy, the woman on the far right, picked him up I saw him clearly
and placed him in the baby carrier in my picture.
Then I added her and the woman with woman #2 in the back.
There were some men around at tables closer to me,
but I always feel more comfortable drawing those further away.
I noticed that my drawing shown on my last post featured legs; well this one seemed to be all
hands and arms!
When I came home after work I got out my watercolor paints and added color to the scene!
Now this can truly be a Happy Paint Party Friday drawing/painting!

ReplyDeleteI too love seeing the black and white as well as the color illustrations. I like both but the watercolor really adds a lot. It is amazing how many things a woman's hands can do in just one day. You captured just a small piece of how important our hands are to so many.
ReplyDeleteLet us know how Carlos's son does. It is so nice that they both have you to share their excitement with.
Wow, the color really brings the scene to life, doesn't it? You and Carlos must be the official artist's of Jalisco's by now.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you run a fun blog, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteYou're obviously very creative, I just love the quilts. on your other blog. My family were mostly all (four generations at least) tailors, and I guess it runs in my genes, so your quilting blogs hold a lot of interest for me. I love your lively illustrations! ... guess you've got another follower :0)

ReplyDeleteThis is so nice. You really have a talent for sketching in the raw. Kind of reminds me of Andrea's sketches on the bus in Paris. I like how you took bits of this and that around the restaurant and put them all together on the page.
ReplyDeleteYour diner sketches are so much fun, lively and interesting! <3
