Catching people unawares is fun...the two women were chatting over their lunches in front of the unused tile framed fire place several tables away from me. I liked that one woman's curly hair.
The gentleman in the air force uniform was with a group of eight people. I liked how he was sort of slouched down in his chair. He was sitting right across from me. Can you tell he is of Asian desent?
My favorite "Couple" were at Taco Jalisco's. I liked how she had her arm around his back. Last time I drew him with his arm around her shoulders.
This is my second drawing of the man reading the SF Chronicle. And the second of the other man as well. Getting to know my peeps!
These ladies on the left were deep in conversation over her laptop. Not sure who was trying to sell what to whom.
And the mom with her young daughter had really big round eyes. But I caught her first when she was looking at her sandwich. Lots of flip-flop wearers!
Happy Paint Party Friday!

ReplyDeleteLovely little slices of life caught by your sweet eye. Love them !
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday !
Oh dear.. I spaced this out today.. Sorry. More wonderful Lynn drawings. I love how you add the details on the walls or with newspapers etc. I think you are improving all the time.
ReplyDeleteWhere have I been...just day to day stuff. I am a real Goober, I have miss so many of your posts, so I went back to catch up. All your drawings are so much fun to look at. I just love taking it all in. And your vacation pictures are beautiful. Our favorite lake is Lake Tahoe in California...we have a lot of history there. You both are just to cute together, thinking of you with a big smile, Mary
ReplyDelete;-) Glad you came to visit today Mary! xoxo
DeleteYou are really good at your drawings Lynn. Your pieces truly tell a story about what is going on. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat delightful drawings Lynn! You really capture life. Happy PPF #3 Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
ReplyDeleteDo people ever come over to you and ask you what you are drawing? These are great! Love hearing about your day through your illustrations. :-)
ReplyDeleteRarely. Once or twice at Taco Jalisco's this has happened. And a few times at the Bakery. But not often thank heavens. I'd never get anything done. LOL
DeleteLove your coffee shop drawings, each one is it's own story! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteYou make me smile! I really should learn to take a sketch book with me when I go out. I just never got the habit, but you make it look like such fun! My favs are the first and last. yes, I can tell he is Asian, and I love the flip flop girls. I can see sketching makes you more observant!
ReplyDeleteThat last one is cute to see the diffence in those two couples ±'
ReplyDeleteDo you have time to enjoy your coffee and food while you are so busy sketching I was just wandering.....? Well I hope so :)
Have a nice day♥
Marianne, I do these on my lunch break and yes, I go there to eat; but I will be perfectly honest with you I am really there to draw; the food is just something to hide behind and I need sustance to go back to work and make it through my afternoon clients. ;-)
DeleteI like that we are getting to know your fellow cafe folk and see your different views of some of them over time... it is very cool... love the glimpse into your lunch hour...xx
ReplyDeleteI love that you have repeat sketches, and that you tell a story in your drawings. I am always too scared to sketch in public in case someone comes to ask me what I am doing, though that is also the only way to get better as well! And yes, I could tell the soldier was of Asian descent. :)
ReplyDeleteMostly people ignore me or are oblivous as to what I am doing. A few times people have come up to me to ask about what I am doing. So far it has been with positive intention and feelings. Whew!
DeleteI love the way you capture the hustle and bustle of life. I can almost hear the noises of the cafe and your stories brings them to life. Fabulous.

Listen for the loud Mexican music when I am at Taco Jalisco's!!! ;-)
DeleteIs it good to be home and back to sketching in your favourite places?...It's certainly good to see them.
ReplyDeleteI loved our vacation time Ann, but yes, it's always good to come home again. I missed my peeps! ;-)
DeleteYour drawings always make me want to go to a popular lunch spot and draw the crowd, there is a great one in my neighborhood, filled with lots of colorful folks. But I'd be getting the stink eye for taking up a table while I sat drawing instead of eating.
ReplyDeleteTaco Jalisco's is a special place for drawing. Although I must make clear that I do go there for lunch and I do eat while drawing. The son of the owner is an artist, an animator and an actor! He actually encourages me to draw there, as do his parents the owners. I am the second person to draw on a regular basis in this particular restaurant besides the son, Carlos. The first published a little book of his drawings (they weren't like mine of the people there, however). This is not the case at the other places I draw, but no one seems to mind.
DeleteBeautiful drawing, Lynn. Love the delightful colors.... :)
ReplyDeleteI love the last one... seems like everyone there is in bliss with the food. Great to see you back in your favorite places. Happy PPF

ReplyDeleteall of your paintings are so delightful this week. I really love how you capture people in everyday life!
ReplyDeleteAll the paintings have this "moment frozen in time" quality. You capture the mood in an instant. It´s the flow of your lines that gives them the implied live movement.
ReplyDeleteLovely paintings this week!
ReplyDeleteI love sketches. I love doing on the spot sketches too, but don't do them often enough. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love these - I can see and feel the hubbub and motion of the places and the people - wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job! Lots of flip floppers here in Italy, too. I've never used them, though... :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, lively drawings! Great summer vibe, must be all the flip-flops...:)
ReplyDeleteThese are so much fun! My favorite peeps are the U.S. air force guy (yes I could tell he was Asian) and the couple at the bar. Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteI love all the little details, and the fact that you are kind of naming the people you see regularly is so fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, I could tell he was Asian! Love these sketches and I love that you tell us a little bit about the people you drew.
