Early Lynn Plein Air Art and Upcoming Art Show

I have been so focused lately on self publishing my book, One Fish Taco and Half an Order of Guacamole A Year of Drawing at Tacos Jalisco, I have had little time for much more. (except sewing a wall hanging pocket thing my grandson asked for, wrapping Chaunkah gifts, working, and now getting ready for an ART SHOW in Davis, CA in January.)

What will I take to that show? I am bringing small art quilts and some ink/watercolors to hang in a very cute consignment shop there called The French Cuff. (130 G. St. Davis, CA). In preparing I was looking through my early art and came across these two ink watercolors I did outdoors here in town.

I remember sitting in front of the Chamber of Commerce building and a man coming out of the building seeing me there. He said something about when I was done perhaps they'd want to hang it in the chamber! I laughed. I was just making my very first ever art...hang it? You've got to be kidding!

On another day I sat in the sprinkling rain under a store front awning using masking glue for the first time to map out the bricks on a building across the street.

I am pretty proud of these first endeavors of venturing outdoors to draw and paint. Maybe they are worthy of hanging!?

I think I will take some Tacos Jalisco drawings to the art show. But I like these too. Hum? What do you think?

  1. Yes your early work was great right from the start. When a gallery does a show for someone they like to have a theme. I guess its the collectors mind set. I think what ever you put in there will be great.

  6. Definitely take them, especially because not only are they earlier work, but they are different in that there are no people! (I love your people, though).

Very exciting to have work going off to a show! Yay, Lynn!
