Pure Grain Bakery on Thursday Playing Cards, Waiting; Happy New Year!

Last Thursday I wandered into the Pure Grain Bakery for lunch. Yes, I eat out a lot during my work week. I worry about affording this once I retire. I may have to keep working just to assure myself my entry to drawing in public places. I bet these four at the table are retired. They were playing cards!
I was torn between drawing them and wanting to ask to sit in for a hand, although I had no idea what the game was.

The card players were laughing and having such a good time. That table of four behind them were rather animated as well, talking, except for the one gal looking down at her phone the entire time. I wonder what percentage of time I spend in my real world and how much in my virtual world. I really do live in two worlds now since getting a computer and now an iPad!

See, they are in their virtual worlds. He's on a computer. She's on a phone. I drew her in no more than two minutes as she waited for her order to come up and it did ...  quite quickly.

I am getting used to my gouache paints. They are a bit of a struggle between wanting the thicker paint (see his hair) but then thinking it's too thick and needing to water it down (see her hair). I am sure I will figure it out as we slide into the new year!

Wow, tomorrow is New Years Eve! I'll take this opportunity to
wish you all
a very Happy New Year!
2012 has been pretty special for me. I filled over nine art journals with drawing/paintings. I self published a book of 78 of them:
"One Fish Taco and Half An Order Of Guacamole A Year Of Painting Over Lunch At
Tacos Jalisco".

Soon to be available at Blurb Bookstore for sale.

On the more personal family front our little Allie Bel got her cochlear implant and now can hear us speak to her and enjoy music! Pretty exciting when a born-deaf baby becomes a hearing child!

I know my list is much longer of things to be happy and grateful about ... suffice it to say I am. And am looking forward to another good and creative year.  Thank you all who come and support, inspire and encourage my art making. I appreciate you more than you can ever imagine!

I wish you all a year of good health, happiness and prosperity! Be kind to your neighbors, your fellow man, you may need them some day. And besides, it's just the right thing to do! ;-)
