In the top photo I drew my DH reading over coffee at the Warming Hut in San Francisco last Sunday. The story is told pretty much in the writing on the picture. To the right I drew our exciting outing on Monday! I didn't want to go. I thought we'd done enough that long Memorial Day weekend. I wasn't looking forward to holiday traffic. But DH kept saying he could avoid the traffic, and we'd have fun...
so in the end I gave in and went!
We were in Old Town Sacramento. All I knew was that we were going to hear live music. We were walking down a street looking for the kiosk to turn our online purchased tickets into a wrist ban showing we paid to get into a show, when this tall cowboy walks toward us. Boy, did he look familiar! Hey, I said. That's the tall Steve from The Old West Trio!!!! Are they here today? DH just agreed that he did in fact LOOK like him.
We got our wrist bands and headed back to "Laughs Unlimited" the site where we'd hear music.
And who was there when we got in was none other than
I was stoked!
There was Leslie and Steve Johnson, the "other Steve", the one I have a slight crush on, tuning up their instruments!!! I mean really, check out his really long mustache!
While we waited for the music to start I drew in the semi-dark of the theater these folks sitting in front of us.
And then in the almost dark except for the stage, which was well lit of course, I drew Leslie and Steve and Steve, and listened to the melodious voices and perfect guitar and bass playing! It was
AWESOME!!!
Why do I fight it so much when DH wants to take me somewhere, but only tells me a part of what to expect? He loves to surprise me. I should know this after 35 years, right? I should know better than to resist! I should go with the flow. Well, the good news is, I did GO, and we did have FUN, and the music was GREAT, and he did know how to avoid the traffic on the way home! He took the back roads out of Sacramento along the DELTA waters, and we were the ONLY car on the road the entire way home. It was peaceful, it was beautiful, it was relaxing, it was AWESOME! Thank you Sweet Man! Thank you so much.
On Tuesday it was back to life in the semi fast lane ... well not really. I work three days this week, and I had lunch at Tacos Jalisco. "The Couple" was there and we talked about the article in the
Vacaville Magazine! If you missed that you can see it at www.vacamag.com.
click on the blue magazine cover and go to pages 10-12. It's all about me and my book!
It was a great weekend, and the beginning of a great week.
Life is good!
Enjoy each day.
There's no telling how many we've got. Make the best of it!

Sounds like you had a great and eventful weekend. How lovely that your husband surprises you with things like this. I know what you mean in that sometimes the thought of going somewhere is too much and you'd rather stay home but once you actually make the effort 9 times out of 10 it turns out to be a wonderful night. It certainly sounds like this one was! I tried to read the magazine but I'm using an android tab and it wouldn't open for me - I'll have to look on my pc instead - but congratulations, that's wonderful that you have a whole article about you and your book!
