My Art This Week, and Introducing Artist Margo Rivera-Weiss and Her Wonderful Art

First MY ART from THIS PAST WEEK:

Last Thursday I had lunch at Tacos Jalisco with these folks. Well, they sat across the room from my table, and that made it easy for me to draw them all before they finished eating and left! I loved the diversity of the group!

On Saturday, we went to Starbucks to draw. Well  I draw, my husband drinks the coffee and reads.
The group on the far left in back are regulars. The gal with the tissue box was immersed in her iPhone I think, the other two gals were right in front of me and were talking away a mile a minute.
I used my husbands cup holder turned inside out to stamp some fun lines on the page.

This drawing was done in the "Spiral" method I learned in Sketchbook Skool. The little knob on the bookshelf window was my center point. And then I drew out and around from there. I am featuring two new bookshelves of rod iron on each side of the barristers bookcase. The books are all my art journals and other art books. The bottom middle shelf holds art magazines. I have over 40 filled art journals on these shelves. There are more on my desk in the kitchen I am currently working in. Yes, I am very proud of this collection, some going back to 2009, but most over the past four years!

We went back on Sunday to Starbucks again. I enjoyed drawing the backs of these guys and the fronts of the gals. No one here was together with any of the others ... all either loners or with someone else who did not get drawn.

That evening we had dinner with friends. I hadn't seen my friend in a couple of years! We had a lot of catching up to do. I met her new fiancé! It was a happy time seeing her so happy! I drew them as they washed up our dinner dishes together. Dinner was delicous, and so was the conversation!

I am continuing with Every Day in June. Well, started it. I didn't quite finish Every Day in May.
This time I made my own art journal for it using some ledger pages I had on hand. The cover is Strathmore Watercolor paper with cardboard in-between and taped together.
I used rings to hold the pages together for easy turning.

June 2's prompt was "Shell Game". I took it literally!

I'm continuing collaborative drawing with my friend, Carmel Campbell in Oregon. This is the beginning of a trip we'll be taking abroad, through our drawings.

And then I drew Jason Das, our last teacher in Stretching, a klass in Sketchbook Skool. We are on Summer Break now for at least a month, as we await Danny Gregory and Koosje Koene's next plans for us.

Now I would like to introduce you to another artist:

Meet
Margo Rivera-Weiss

When I went to our local Farmers Market last weekend I picked up a copy of East Bay Edibles!
And who should I find on the cover and inside,  but my new friend from Sketchbook Skool and East Bay Sketchers, Margo Rivera-Weiss. There were several pieces of her wonderful art plus an article. (I'm not sure you will be able to read it here, but do find a copy on line if you can or a hard copy if you are in the area.

Margo of course draws food for this food magazine ...

And tractors ...

And tea pots!

Here's the article about artist Margo Rivera-Weiss

Now I am off to Belgium to meet up with Nathalie Renotte, a klassmate from Sketchbook Skool, to draw with her and her friends there! Stay tuned!  (PS Carmel became otherwise occupied and couldn't make the trip so I am going alone. But knowing me, I am never alone for long!)
